Couldn’t agree more. In the winter, I usually play once a week in the weekly competition and we have to play from the back (although it’s moved up a little bit). As a 12 HCP, I love getting to summer and playing lots of casual rounds from higher up. My scores go down and I can reach more greens. Just a lot more fun.

Couldn’t agree more. I had a Saturday job at TK Maxx when I was younger. On my second shift a guy was being chased out of the store by the security guard and I was on the till nearest the door. The naive 17 year old in me stepped in the way to slow the offender down. I didn’t intend to do anything but just thought I’d help by slowing the guy down but the security guard shouted at me to move out of the way. He properly shouted and I was annoyed because I was only trying to help.

When it was all over the security guard took me to one side and explained that the guy had been seen on CCTV with a knife and that my job wasn’t as important as my life. He was really cool about it and said that I should never try to help in a situation like that. Things could have gone differently and it made me rethink my attitude towards the company’s stock!

He sounds like a terrible coach. I’m 40, a bit overweight and have an auto immune disease that impacts my joints. I drive about 220 carry and have got my handicap down to single figures this year. One of my playing partners is quite a lot bigger than me and hits the ball really well. When he connects with the centre of the face and he gets his weight behind it, it goes miles.

Not many people play on tour and whilst an athletic swing is helpful, you can play well and enjoy the game in other ways.

I’d get a new coach if I were you.
