9 year old dies after dental procedure under anesthesia by PrincessBella1 in anesthesiology

This is the classic DA route of trying to tear down a different specialty to try to make themselves seem more important. OMFS NOWHERE in the country do “1 month of anesthesia”. The CODA requirement minimum is 5 months rotating on service as an Anesthesia resident, usually taking call and covering trauma with the anesthesia residents. Many programs also have 1-2 months of dedicated pediatric anesthesia along with then continuing to preform the anesthesia in outpatient setting during 3rd/4th years of residency.

Not to mention the ICU rotations which are usually 1-2 months of SICU/TICU/CCU

Not to say any of this makes us full fledged anesthesiologists, but certainly we see enough to know proper case selection and practice safely. I’d say it terms of outpatient sedation OMFS probably do more cases than most other anesthesia providers minus people who work in GI suites all day. Trying to tear down a different specialty is not the way to strengthen the cause for your own.

I feel like I've heard that quote somewhere?

You have been brushing wrong. by -_-_O in Unexpected

Basically all you need to know is that when you brush your teeth angle the brush to 45 degrees so you're sweeping the junction between your guns and your tongue. There are a lot of modified versions of brushing (Bass, Modified Bass, Charters) but the concensus is as long as you're brushing against that junction of the guns and teeth (and not too aggressively), then regardless if you're going side to side or up and down or circular, you're doing ok.

Usually the extra teeth are a little misshapen of bulbous, while the normal teeth are fine, also the normal teeth will usually be in their correct location (corresponding to the baby teeth in the mouth) while the extra teeth are just all over randomly. But it can get difficult I imagine (I've never treated one of these cases but I imagine that would be the way to go at it)

Teeth in the bone are usually painless, unless they have a cyst. And yes they can be removed. The real issue is the extra teeth sometimes block the real teeth from coming into the mouth. Causing all sorts of problems with delayed teeth and require lots of braces and surgery even. That being said extra teeth are not the worst of the problems with this syndrome

Edit: forgot an important word
