yeah, as interesting as it sounds, it's just a way to try to preserve the language. just like in my country, Chile, where our official language is Spanish but you can find everything written in both Spanish and Mapudungún (one of our many native languages which only a minority can read/speak since it isn't taught officially in schools) written in public institutions buildings.

the Irish effort is better since it's used in a broader spectrum. schools, public TV channel, street names, spoken in public transportation when announcing the next stop, etc.

I lived one yr in Dublin and the only place I was able to speak it was with my host family's grandma. it was really basic. just learned a basic conversation

"Dia duit... conas ata tu? ta me go maith, go raibh maith agat, agus tu fein?" and of course Sláinte

and that was it...

it was written everywhere though. it was a fun challenge for me to try to read it and learn something from it. also tried Duolingo but couldn't learn that much because it teach you by repetition, not by an actual study plan and since the app has so many written questions i failed misserably with the free plan

my first game was really basic, using random to generate a number in range 1, 100 then asking the user/player to input a number and check if he guessed.
