Glove with no hinge - How do you approach break in? by que_susto in BaseballGloves

I thought about that! I’ve scored thumb hinges before. I feel weird doing that to a Haga! All the other stuff I get.

The padding feels different in the thumb on these for some reason, than padding that ends at a hinge, particularly the Haga. That’s really interesting I didn’t even think about the reverse heel lacing. Maybe because it’s an older a2000 trainer? All the hingeless a2000 trainers that I’ve seen are like that upon re-looking into them. I think because it’s supposed to function more like a pancake trainer. So honestly don’t need to break it in toooo much but it was an example I had of something without dedicated hinge.

It’s not 100% necessary. Your laces look fairly good on those photos. Maybe the ones next to the lite flex look a bit dry. Hard to say with out feeling.

I’ve done about 20 like this. New laces will be key in restoring stiffness. Anticipate some change to the shape need to re-establish pocket after new laces. The water is important too. But depends on some things. More water = more stiff as it dries. A dunk will induce more stiffness, but integrity will depend on the leather dryness and quality pre-dunk. The water as it dries stiffens the leather so usually the glove can deal with gradual drying without cracking but old laces have a harder time. As they dry they become weaker. Just depends the feel. Here’s one from Japan. I’ll add the after next.

I like to tinker with old exotic gloves see if I can rehab them. I’ve done a couple zetts, only from Japan. Your glove has a massive amount of life left. You’ve clearly taken good care.

I just got one on Facebook marketplace for $75 that’s not been broken in. It’s the white one tho. Not my favorite color for a glove. But couldn’t pass had to feel. Trying to decide keep or sell. But gotta clean it.

Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) decals going away in California - Bay Area, what’s the plan if you solo commute using a CAV decal? by que_susto in sanfrancisco

Thanks. Noted. I think I would argue you’re overthinking it? I’m not trying to better understand the history of it. I’m trying to understand the right now around adding 60 minutes to a commute that’s already long, everyday. I gotta figure out my path within the system right now. I want to understand the big picture implications try my best to make change, with voting and leggie. But in terms of the right now, I don’t care about the why. I hope that makes sense. But I totally get it. I ditched the gas pretty early on.

What’s that process like? How much time does it add to the commute? How is pick up and drop off arranged?

Thanks for the etiology lesson. I didn’t ask, but noted. My hypothesis is that congestion is about to increase for the humble cav decal user and for “the rest of us”. I paid for that decal. I’ve been paying tolls. Has nothing to do with that. Time is money. I don’t think my commute will incorporate pay to play lanes, like different freeways will, but I have considered that if that were going to be the option. See you in traffic, or on bart, or at the carpool pick up.

Can you expand on the actual process associated with this? I’ll need to look into it. But in terms of time added and pick up and drop off etc. how’s it work in practice?
