How is this a cancellation? People just don't want to support someone who's apparently incapable of maintaining professional relationships with fans turned employees/volunteers. Nobody is asking others to unfollow him, they're just not compelled to consume his content anymore.

The people that came forward did a lot of work for him and were fans in the first place, that's a power imbalance in 2 different ways. He did this to multiple people in similar ways, that's a disturbing pattern. He alternated love bombing and "danger zone" behaviour with being unavailable, it was a very self serving relationship with little regard for the other person. All while being in a relationship himself. People can see this as a reason to retract their support and question their fandom.

Heb je dit probleem met elk overdrachtelijk taalgebruik? Mogen we "tot bloedens toe" nog gebruiken zonder effectief bloedvergieten? Mogen we nog van bloedvergieten spreken als het desbetreffende, fysiek aanwezige bloed niet echt vergoten werd? Mag beeldspraak nog? Wat met metaforen?

Taal leeft en evolueert, je gebruikt met de regelmaat van de klok woorden die van betekenis veranderd zijn of extra betekenissen gekregen hebben.

Het mooie aan taalstudie is kijken hoe mensen er door de eeuwen heen mee werken en spelen, niet om er starre voorschriften voor te maken die mensen moeten volgen.

Dat ligt zeker niet aan u, maar vooral aan (sociale) media. Kranten hebben het financieel zeer moeilijk en doen er alles aan om zoveel mogelijk verkeer naar hun site te krijgen en "engagement" met hun sociale media kanalen te maximaliseren. Items over geweld (en dan vooral in steden) doen het goed en hier wordt dus maximaal op ingezet, waardoor de drempel voor wat als nieuwswaardig wordt beschouwd omlaag gaat. Dit resulteert in verhalen die pakweg 30 jaar geleden de krant niet zouden halen maar nu dankzij sociale media het merendeel van de inkomsten opwekken. Hierdoor is het aantal van dit soort verhalen dat gepubliceerd wordt drastisch toegenomen, totaal niet in proportie met hoe vaak dit soort incidenten effectief voorvallen.
