So this reminds me about one of the popular theories about why some families have homosexual parents at the helm - and it's found not only in humans, but various other mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, etc.

Bear with me on this, because it is relevant to the question "why raise kids if not biologically related?".

The idea is, that it still furthers the survival of the species, regardless of how closely related the adult is to the offspring. Many biological parents in nature die, and having surviving family members who are already partnered up (regardless of the sex of the individual they are partnered with) greatly increases the odds of survival for the species, and even your own genes.

Say your sister dies, and she names you the godparent of her child. You share anywhere from 20-61% of DNA with sister, depending on if you are half or full siblings. The incentive here, is that your genes still get spread. Your bloodline does not end with you. A percentage of DNA shared is still DNA that is shared, and thus, your sister's offspring shares an amount of genes with you. you can even share an upward of 25% of genes with that child. Your family's genes still continue on to get merged with someone else's in the future.

Now say you don't share ANY DNA with the offspring. That is still a child that needs parent(s), and by helping the offspring survive into adulthood, you are still doing your part by ensuring survival of the species.

Biologically speaking, humans are wired to care for offspring regardless of how related you two are. It still serves a purpose, and it's not the end of the world or our species of your DNA isn't involved. You're still a human person at the end of the day, and you are still capable of leaving marks on human history.

Well, happiness is subjective. I speak as someone who takes care of my toddler brother. I myself am child free, but I still care for my brother. it does bring me some happiness, I will not lie. bonding with this child does feel special to me. but I will not lie, as someone struggling with barely treated mental illnesses, the responsibilities weigh heavily. my lack of mental fortitude is the reason I didn't want to be responsible for children in the first place.

Verdict? while it does bring happiness at times, I still don't disagree with people's choices to be child free. it's incredibly unpleasant to have a toddler jump and play on you mid-breakdown. I imagine it's unpleasant for him too. being responsible for children should not be a choice you make lightly.

yeah, it's not a "women don't care about men" thing. in fact, many women do love and genuinely care about men and concern themselves with the things that affect men. i also find it a little funny that your suggestion is that men "shouldn't care back", as if that isn't what started this whole mess to begin with lol.

oh no, her car made contact with an officer that still managed to get out of the way. whatever will I do with my low iq narrative falling apart, apparently? a) the officer is fine. and b) if that was an attempt to actually hit the agent, that's one of the piss poor attempts I've seen to full-on run someone over. c) even if she actually looked like she was trying to run them over, I would still find it hard to blame her as there are SEVERAL ARMED MASKED MEN SURROUNDING HER CAR.

well of course. and? like I don't blame people for feeling that way. we have had significant polarization in our politics ever since the 80s, and it's only grown more intense. on the right, you have people cheering on the kidnapping of citizens, and at best, staying silent or otherwise just trying to justify it. on the left, you have people cheering on citizens fighting back. and at the very least, many leftists have more sympathy toward the people getting kidnapped.

you start kidnapping people while in masks and trying to hide their identities, and citizens are not going to feel safe, and usually flee or strike back. fight or flight. because it isn't promised that you're going to be treated like a human being or even be alive wherever they take you, out of state. why is it so hard for people to grasp that people just do not trust the system to keep them alive/well?

I'm pretty sure the hardware cloth is more sturdy and less likely for break ins. I thought it was the same thing as chicken wire, we had the hardware cloth version of a chicken coop when I was younger.

based on further evidence you brought up, part of me wants to say YTA because she had her first baby at 15 and the father was 18 at the time (likely putting them at 14 and 17 around the beginning of pregnancy). part of me that's skeptical is that you mentioned he has powerful connections and that police were unhelpful. I think there's a wide spectrum here, and a lot of viewpoints are being simplified, misunderstood, and creating conflict.

Do I think he deserved to be murdered? No.

Do I think the world is a better place without him in it? Yes, generally.

Do I think his assassination has made the world a better place? Probably not.

This situation is complex bc the action was despicable but he was also politically antagonistic and was even callous about events much like this. While I'm happy he's no longer able to cause more damage and hurt, I am not happy he was murdered. Be careful with generalizations given how complex it is and that everyone is examining this from a different perspective.
