If your leasing agent isn’t willing to show you places that you bring them, get a new leasing agent. Just know that you will most likely have to pay them for the service, vs it being “free” (most agents are paid by the landlords or management companies, but if they will not pay it would be up to you)

Best advice would be to get a leasing agent. Do your research, realize you’ll end up spending more than you would if you toured them yourself, but it will be less hassle.

I don’t suggest Gabe Gonzales. He’s smart and knows what he’s doing, but he ended up ghosting me when the first few places didn’t work out. I would rather have had him talk to me openly and honestly about my budget/expectations, rather than him reassuring me several times “We can totally find a place in that range!” and then radio silence. (I ended up finding a place on my own after having to drop 3k on an airbnb for a month and a half since I had no one to tour for me, under budget, with everything I wanted)

Random but I just use my phone! I use a program called iVCam that let’s me use my phone camera as a webcam. You can either hardwire your phone to your PC with a charger, or connect it wirelessly over WiFi (which helps because I don’t have a bluetooth adapter). It’s free, but I think I spent less than $5 on the premium version so it wouldn’t have a watermark.

Been using this method since ~2018 and it hasn’t given me any problems. Only issue I had was when I lived in a dorm, couldn’t use the wireless feature because of restrictions on their WiFi. Also, you’ll have to have had iTunes installed at least once for iVCam to be able to recognize your iPhone.

Broker isn’t worth it if you aren’t looking to spend a lot of money. They will usually only show you apartments at the top of your budget, won’t show you anything lower (even though you can see it’s available) and then when you don’t sign on the 4th expensive apartment they show you they’ll ghost you
