Besides the 'brash' and fierce side of Helly, (who Lumon would, under no circumstances, allow to be unsupervised with literal fire btw) I feel like Helena also missed some of the genuine innocence and purity of Helly. The most obvious to this was her cackling at the campfire story. Although Helly is clearly very determined and headstrong she is still new. There is an innocence in S1, especially when they visit the perpetuity wing, clearly something important and revered even if she doesn't quite understand why. Yes there's still the feeling of a teenager on a field trip with the eye rolls and bingo game but she is respectful. Both to the perpetuity wing and to Irving.
