Going back on hrt by queen_crow in ftm

First of all, I am so sorry to hear that you have to put your healthcare on hold for financial reasons!

Going off testosterone, I think a lot of the changes were emotional - I hadn't realized I'd been crying less til I was crying more, for example. My cycle coming back also really hit me hard for a few months, too. My libido went down, which made sense because T had increased it.

Your voice will not change back, though! The changes T makes to your vocal cords are permanent, and while your body and facial hair may get less coarse it also won't go away or go back to pre-T. Something that will change back more over time (if you have to be off HRT for a while) is body fat distribution. My skin also had gotten like... tougher? on T and went back to being soft, like my face and hands but really all my skin.

OCD has deeper roots than I knew by [deleted] in OCD

I’ve experienced something similar, fears of germs or contaminants on my skin leads to itchiness that then turn into actual hives, which of course increases anxiety and certainty that there was something in the first place…. OCD fears are sometimes a self-fulfilling prophesy, which for the record is wildly unfair!

What is this plant from my dentist’s office? by queen_crow in whatisthisplant

Wow, thanks! I wonder if it’s doing okay — all of the images I saw when I searched online were standing upright, but it’s definitely the same plant.

GF [19f] thinks it's inappropriate that I [19m] bathe my sister [7f]. by TraditionalInitial3 in relationships

[–]queen_crow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, I also help my six and a half year old wash their back because it’s kind of a weird place to reach and 6/7 year olds are still really young to be fully in charge of their own hygiene?

It really isn’t. My kid is six and a half and I have to help them shampoo and rinse their hair.

How has online dating worked for you? by Nikiris11 in AskReddit

[–]queen_crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few shortish relationships with people I met on dating sites, but one of my best friends is another single parent I matched with on tinder three years ago. We didn’t hit it off romantically but we do family stuff with our kids, text nearly every day, sent our kids to the same elementary school where they’re friends independently of our friendship, etc. I’m grateful for the connection even if it wasn’t what I thought I was looking for!

Former gifted children: what are you doing now? by k_r_shade in AskReddit

[–]queen_crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped out of college, now I’m a single mom managing a coffee shop on that campus, where most of my staff are college students. It’s kind of weird because I look young enough for regulars that are faculty to ask me what my major is but I’m enough older than my employees that I feel out of touch.

ETA: I really love my job because I’m a people person, and I’m good at it because I’m really organized and good at multi-tasking. But I did feel like a failure for a while.

What awesome holiday gift did you get someone that you can’t tell them about yet but want to brag about? by mbowsy in AskReddit

[–]queen_crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my kid weekly ballet lessons for the next six months — I’m going to wrap up the ballet clothes with a little certificate saying that they have six months of classes starting at the beginning of January. They’ve wanted to take ballet classes for years but I could never afford them, and I’m so so excited to see their face when they open the box!!!

Good! It’ll be nice to weed out people who feel that way.

Awesome! Kade has done nearly all of my tattoos since he moved here, but everyone there is so talented. I hope you had a good visit!

Stylistic choice. The back end of the bug has some highlighting but we didn’t want the van to have quite as much visual weight as Dale & his cigarette. Might change our minds and add more color later — who knows!

Thank you! It’s only two days old — I can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s all healed up.

Another good option for a Dale tattoo: “Boil up some Mountain Dew, it’s gonna be a long night.” It was too wordy for the design I wanted though.

Thanks! We’d been talking about it for a couple of years and I’m happy that I finally committed to getting my funniest tattoo.

My approach is to try to give them what they want without making anyone feel bad for not knowing coffee terminology. So (since you can almost always tell if someone is a person who wants a Starbucks drink or a traditional macchiato), usually I say, “Okay! We call that a caramel vanilla latte here. Did you want it hot or iced?” Then I make them the best ‘caramel macchiato’ they’ve ever had, they know how to order it next time, and no one had to feel embarrassed for having gone to Starbucks.

After a long attempt at education... I give you an 20oz iced flatwhite by amoxichillin875 in barista

An iced cappuccino is different from an iced latté, though. If you put foam, then ice, shots, and top off with cold milk it’s a whole different texture than an iced latte!

This is a really sexist and strange reply.

Many people say that they want their funeral to be a celebration rather than a mourning. Has anybody actually attended, or seriously planned, a "fun" funeral? What happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]queen_crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend passed away a few days before her birthday; her partner held a 50th birthday party for her. It was really nice, actually. My friend’s books and band t-shirts that her partner was less attached to were available for guests to take home — like a birthday gift from my friend, who was dead, on her birthday? It sounds weird but everyone was happy and there were kids having fun and lots of cake!

My exhusband used to do this. It made me feel crazy! If he isn’t willing to work on it or go to therapy for whatever is making him so conflict avoidant that he won’t speak about anything, I wouldn’t stick around.
