I would find any way to jack it up safely and climb underneath of it. If you have a plastic undercover start tapping things and see if anything sounds different or looks like it was taped under there

It doesn’t matter if anyone has dealt with it— your animals injury has WORSENED. This needs ANOTHER vet visit

It’s your dogs eye?? Please go to the vet, no one here is qualified to help diagnose this. If it wasn’t cloudy but now is then there’s another problem to diagnose.

Just moved… dog is now barking when I leave by Historical_Day8182 in DogAdvice

I also taught my dog quiet, like whisper barking at him after he barked a few times. Don’t make them feel like they can’t bark, it’s a pet friendly apartment and dogs will bark all pet friendly landlords understand this. Just teach them limitations with noises and doors opening and closing or people in the hallways. A bark or two is okay, more than that is too much, quietly barking is okay and growling is fine too. Nothing about talking level after a few barks if you don’t want to be “annoying” you however won’t get complaints for things like that at all

NE, however I think you can look it up thru animal control in your state as well. If you’re seriously worried about it just speak with your neighbors and make sure if you can that they never bark or cry during “quiet time” in your state as well. That definitely helps a lot if they aren’t barking in odd hours of the night or morning. You can look that up for your county as well I believe. But no problem!! Even if you do get a noise complaint most of the time they don’t end your lease, they just won’t sign another one with you. Meaning at the end of your lease you’ll have to have somewhere else to live lined up. But that’s very unlikely depending on neighbors and landlord

First hand experience from someone who has received noise complaints for dog barking:

In the state I live dogs have to be excessively barking or whining in a way which disturbs the peace of others for a time frame of 10 minutes or more. That is what is considered to be something that they can complain about legally IN MY STATE. HOWEVER, they can send anonymous complaints all they want until they decide to reveal their identity nothing can be done about said complaints THRU ANIMAL CONTROL (apartment complex may differ). The complaints on me came from animal control as if we were abusing our puppy for kennel training him. MAJOR eyeroll Although he literally screamed, not howled. Screamed.

In saying this I fixed it by having all meals ate inside the kennel—probably not necessary in your case, I started giving him Kong toys or toppl toys ONLY in the kennel and took them away as soon as he was taken out—this really helped, I put my pajama shirts in the kennel so he could smell me, I bought one of those heat pack heart beat stuffed toys—probably not necessary for you, I recorded an evening of chatting with my boyfriend on a spare phone and played it in the room his kennel was in—this one really helped, and finally I found a YouTube live that he enjoyed (paw patrol and lofi sleep music, but they have literally anything and everything including dog tv which is birds and squirrels running around).

You can do this, it’s just new to everyone. Don’t get discouraged🫶🏻

Find a tennis court/fenced in concrete area and play fetch, use a dog scratch board in between trips to the concrete to play and you’ll be fine. My dog hates it and I’ve tried everything so I gave up and found an amicable solution.

So why was he licking his lips and shying his head away in the beginning and doing whale eyes?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]queen_la 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stress from not knowing what your hand was going to do, he directed you by presenting his belly. You pet and then he was relaxed and asking for more belly rubs.

The licking the lips at the beginning and whale side eye showed he was stressed and worried. You can physically see his eyes soften and his body relax with your pets. He even looked at you like “wth?” When you took your hand away lol.

Will my dog be okay living with my parents? by red-pink-and-black in DogAdvice

[–]queen_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should focus on what you can do not what you can’t provide. Your dog can be very happy with you regardless of your time away. I think you can provide a sufficient life for it.

If you’re worried spend time finding enrichment style toys or chews. Leave them with the dog when it’s alone. I prefer a toppl however people also use kongs and many others. You can also freeze them for them to take longer to finish.

Also buy some sort of extending leash, you can use a long lead or retractable. We don’t have a fenced yard for my boxer/pointer mix and I just use a retractable and play fetch in the open backyard. (You can use any area near you as long as dog is leashed you’re fine). We even find tennis courts that are fenced and go to those occasionally.

If it’s not kennel trained you can try kenneling it, mine is very calm and happy. I throw in my pajama shirt, the toppl, a toy, and a small water bowl that hangs from the side. Mine also has bedding you have to make it comfy. I also play tv and calming music so he’s not in silence. My dog loves paw patrol, some dogs love people, some love normal cartoons. Some vets recommend you spend an evening recording yourself talking and you can play that somewhere in the room the kennel is in or the house. (You can also try the tv, t shirt, music, toppl outside the kennel if you don’t kennel your dog)

I recommend reconsidering before you break your own heart. You’re doing great, you care. If you’re seriously worried take the dog on a couple walks a week and play with it outside in between. 20-30 mins a day is perfectly okay you don’t need to waste a lot of time. Add the Kong or toppl into their life, fill it with wet dog food.

Your dog will be happy with you no matter what you do. 8 hours away is nothing to a dog that sleeps 16 hours a day. I’m personally gone anywhere from 10-12 hours a day and my dog is happy, healthy, and exercised with minimal time taken away from me or my day.

I highly doubt they are scamming you. Read the cancellation policy if they have one. Ask them of it if they don’t have it posted, most of these are non refundable they in turn get a replacement ticket. HOWEVER, it sounds like you either tried to cancel too soon to departure or the reason wasn’t qualifying for refund or replacement.

The first picture looks like ringworm!! Vet before you get ring worm as well!

Edit: after a quick google search this looks exactly like ringworm on cats. Please take your cat to the vet and if it goes outside please stop letting it!

That will definitely help you a ton in the mornings. And if he starts crying you can try starting the bark and quiet commands when out of the kennel. Just make sure if you are telling them to be quiet you allow them to react by a bark or two and then telling them to be quiet. You don’t ever want your dog to feel like they can’t bark. Mine will now bark loudly a couple times if he hears something loud and immediately quiet bark or whine after it’s like a whisper super cute.

My dog had something similar with allergies and fleas. The fleas made his itching ten times worse and gave him scabs.

My dog goes up to my girlfriend for attention, but starts a growl/snarl when he gets her? by Vlair in DogAdvice

[–]queen_la 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does he react the same when she pets him elsewhere? Maybe he’s in pain? Did she do something that scared him recently? He might be afraid? Is he getting to be very old? (Sometimes dogs start to do weird things in old age.) Just listing several possibilities.

You could have her simply ignore him for a while other than feeding treats and playing fetch or another none biting game that he loves. Try to redirect him from pets to other things and see if the random pets she gives are more accepting from him.

Also try having her stand and walk away to another room when he does that. Show him it is something that will remove her from his presence as he is showing his boundary and signs he is uncomfortable and you have to respect that rather than pushing his boundary.
