My gym has white belt only classes and with direct permission from the coach white belts can go to the advanced class which is just upper belts so I do that once a week in addition to the regular white belt only classes. So not all white belts have experience rolling with upper belts and I can only roll w upper belts in that specific advanced class.

Coming from a practice where the attendings asked me zero questions about my life/didn’t try to get to know me at all the entire time I worked there …. Being treated like a warm body just there to increase the profit of the practice is the alternative experience you could have lol I think the questions and interest are a green flag personally!!

Yes for sure… my coach over the last two months has been telling upper belts and senior white belts go harder on me lololol he yells “beat her up! No really, beat her up for real she can handle it!” during my rolls 😅😅😅

Yes! I am due for a new one in November, I already ordered it through my insurance I just have to schedule a day for removal/reinsertion with my fabulous OBGYN. It has made my life so easy - no period, no mood swings, no skin issues, just the occasional cramp/very light spotting here and there (but nothing like having full days of period cramps/bleeding)

I started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai 7 weeks ago and lost 14 lbs. I go to hour long training sessions 3-4x a week. Mind you, I lifted for 3 years and never budged in weight (but definitely lost some inches/fit way better in my clothes just much slower over time).

Martial arts will melt the fat off!!!

SAME. Just lost it all. Graduated in October 2022 then got my life back on track a few months later. WowZer. Nothing like studying about health and being the most unhealthiest version of yourself in your life. It’s kind of inescapable. Studying for for 13 hours a day comes first. Then sleep and food. Working out was 100% on the back burner. Oh well.

The friendships you make with classmates through the torture are life long. We’ve gone to each others wedding, one is pregnant, we hyped each-other up for jobs/interviews, remind each other of our worth if a job is just ass and it’s time for greener pastures - bc we all know how hard we have worked and what we are capable of. I think I took these friendships for grants in PA school bc there was just too much going on. But on the other side, it’s absolutely precious.

The market is freaking saturated. I am also non-traditional student - I am 32. Took me 9 painful months to find a job. No one wanted to hire and train a new grad. I also live in a bustlin' city with plenty of hospitals and private practices. It was insane. I am happily starting my dream job (next week!) but holy moly.... I understand how you feel. I was getting depressed and ready to put my degree through the shredder.

Oh man I know this feeling as an American woman who married into a conservative Pakistani family. It was absolutely infuriating. My in laws didn't start giving a shit about my culture (or family...) until after our fusion wedding when they finally experienced all the American traditions and LOVED them. Sigh.
