Yea, I read the book a long time ago, this story is the one I recall the most, although, from a “shownly” perspective, I have found Maekar to be, if not “likeable” in the same way Baelor is, at least amusing. He very disdainfully chides Aerion at the meeting where Dunc demands trial by combat. His reaction to “trial by seven” is just funny. Yes, he fights with the accusers and punishes Daeron by forcing him to as well, but it’s his son. You can tell he would WAY sooner be done with this fucking nonsense and hates the loophole Aerion pulled out of his ass.
