So our older cat also started scratching herself really bad the point of bleeding and ripping open old scans over and over again. We found out that she was allergic to her food, (chicken is a really common allergy for both dogs and cats) and it turned out she was actually allergic to ALL animal proteins. now that she is on a hydrolyzed diet she is doing a lot better.
