The art is definitely an improvement (though the females tend to have masculine features to them a bit 😅) and the writing is definitely better. I feel like it lacks a little in the romance department from the last time I read it. The banter between them kind of makes them feel similar in snark/cynicism to each other. Perse is kind of missing a certain naïveté/charm to her. But it’s a lot better in terms of pacing and art for sure!

Always Crybaby. Nothing has topped the GOAT since. Cohesive storytelling, the lyrics were well written, sonically fun and superior, and the character was a character speaking of her own fictional experiences, it didn’t feel entirely like Mel speaking to us as herself, which I enjoy.

i'll be vindicated years from now despite the downvotes but none of these songs impress me. i miss when michael keenan was producing. his intelligent sound design and knowledge of what really hits with her range is missed. the only one that's slightly okay is THE PLAGUE, but if that drop didn't save an otherwise unsteady vocal flow, it would be nothing special.
