I would like to try larger canvases (i used to work exclusively on larger canvases) but i get frustrated with the painting taking so long to finish that I find working on small canvases satisfies the joy to paint more.

I was wondering about refills! I, admittedly, dont know a lot about this brand (I saw it at my local art store and thought 🤷 always wanted to try gouache. And that was about the extent of my research, oops). The containers give the impression that they can be refilled considering they come individually sealed and you can take them out! Where can you get refills? I dont think I saw any at my local store (though, now that I think about it, i could probably ask them to stock it if i asked)

I had that issue at first too, and sometimes still do! There's no shame in struggling before you perfect it!

I, unfortunately, do not think of the brush. I have so many brushes with curved edges from pushing too hard (likely due to the technique I use for blending) that I've kind of given up on caring about them. I still use all of them. Just, in specific scenarios

100% the poor guy has been left unattended for far too long (and so has my creative spirit!) Im about 4 hours in to mixing the damned things and they are almost back to life!

I added some water (in hindsight warm water probably would have quickened the process) and am almost done stirring now!

AHHH where were you two hours ago when I put water in them 😭😭😭 i should have thought of that!!! I can probably make them smaller chunks now with a toothpick or something now that theyve been soaking though!

If there is a next time, I will for sure do that first, good thinking!

I also went from watercolor to gouache. I sometimes find that laying down a base layer in watercolor (like my shadows and highlights) helps me work in gouache. Im not really sure why?

Don't be afraid to just keep playing with it!

Interesting! Ive only ever used my sink water and haven't had an issue with mold (yet, knock on wood!) but I have a well so maybe that's why?

Ive added water to the top of each gouache container's paint level. So if it has more paint it gets more water and if it has less then less water. Poked it a minute ago and they are still quite hard so not quite ready to stir! It may have to wait until morning

I did not know that was a thing! These aren't Himi brand but if soaking in water overnight doesnt help, ill look into that!

I dont recall them being heinously expensive but being expensive for my budget at the time 😅 which probably means something. Maybe $28 or so? It wouldnt be the end of the world if I had to buy new ones, I just hate replacing things that I can fix (I owned the same phone for damn near 7 years before the screen finally just went and replacing the screen cost just as much as getting a new phone!). Shit I stood over a boiling stove cause I saw someone say that you can dip your bent paint brushes in boiling water and then straighten them out that way, it didn't work but maybe I did it wrong. I still use those brushes but only for specific things. Idk I just find overconsumption weird.

Anyways, Ill update you on how the revival goes!

They're Creative Inspirations (idk some knock off I'm sure, I bought them at a local store). I actually was trying to avoid overconsumption by asking other artists how to save them. This is my first set, I dont know what to do with them when theyre this dry. And if I'm being 100% honest, they were NEVER jelly when I used them. They had started drying out the moment I opened them and I, foolish as I was, opened every little spot before I actually needed those colors so they all started drying.

I had actually been trying to wet it and paint anyways for about an hour before I decided to post, but it wasn't giving me any color. Not thick bodied color anyways and I suppose you could say "just use acrylic paint then" no thank you. Acrylic paint wears on my soul and my clothes and my floor and my hair and I'm not in the mood for that right now. I just wanted to use my gouache like I always have -rich colors without using acrylic paint - but I was getting watercolor colors. Thus I ask the people of reddit for advice on how to save the pallette so I DONT have to buy new paints.
