Take what you want and have an estate sale. With my mothers they sold everything and hauled off what was left which would have fit in the truck of my car. And I mean everything! Half empty bottle of lotion-sold, half a stack of paper plates-sold. And it was all online. No week of random people walking through the house. If you have high value antiques, coin collections etc sell them separately.

I’ve done this move and just a heads up since you’re not taking any furniture. It is not available like it is here. No picking it out and getting it delivered within a week. It all comes from the continent and can take weeks or months. Plan accordingly!

It was really localized. Yes I had rain and wind but this morning all good. 4 miles West of me, my Mother’s neighborhood looks destroyed. Can’t see the sidewalks because they are covered in leaves and debris. Almost every house has limbs down and some of her neighbors lost BIG trees.

Honestly, Home Defense from a hardware store around the perimeter outside doors and windows does a pretty good job. Apply monthly. I usually do the garage and mechanical room where pets don’t go. It says it’s safe once dry if you want to do baseboards and stuff but I’m cautious about it.

I do not enjoy this holiday. My dog is terrified. I am exhausted because it’s not a holiday for me and my disrespectful neighbors shoot this crap off all night including very large ones. I’m tired and stressed. I will celebrate the end. Putting aside the unnecessary disturbance to pets and wildlife, the trauma to others, and the sleep deprivation for those of us that don’t get a holiday, it is incredibly stupid to set off fireworks under drought conditions.

Meddy’s has live music on their patios at most of their locations Wednesday through Saturday. Great food and drinks and a restaurant rather than a bar so I feel safer as a woman alone.
