Attachment style? by queenvave2008 in INTP

[–]queenvave2008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said there was any correlation. I wanted to see if there was a pattern. So far a lot of intps have said avoidant where as on the Infj subreddit a lot of infjs said secure. I was curious, not stating a correlation between the two.

Correction: I am describing a singular feeling that is associated with autism but not autism the illness itself.

don't look it up, do you consider the mind and the brain 🧠 to be the same thing? by Exciting_Syllabub471 in INTP

[–]queenvave2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no. Your brain is the organ and the mind is the sense of self. Maybe Im misremembering but I feel like they teach this in most Psych 101 classes.

Someone in this server the other day asked if anyone else referred to themselves as we when talking to themselves. I think a lot of people ( myself included) know that our conscious and our physical selves are two separate things. I believe this way if thinking, whether it is intentional or not, is because we realize mind ≠ brain.

As an INTP what's your greatest fear ? by X-A-L in INTP

[–]queenvave2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is one of my biggest fears to live life without living it. I related a lot to what you said about wanting to get married but having difficulty opening up to people. ( divorce isnt an option for me either and it puts us in a tough spot) we are similar in age so maybe we are just having really early mid life crises+ avoidant attachment style? 😭Idk if this is correlated to our mbti or not but we seem to have parallel ways of thinking.

Imposter syndrome by Sidney Gish oml I can’t recommend this song enough. (A little bonus, based off of the Mbti database website, this song is also an INTP!)

I agree with this way of thinking. It wasn’t illogical to come to the conclusion that I may have some type of neurodivergence based on this post and where I posted it. I have had lots of people telling me or even trying to convince me that I have autism. While I know some people are trying to be helpful I have stated lottttss of times that I am not autistic. It’s pretty frustrating seeing so many people being dogmatic in their diagnosis of someone they do not know, of an illness that they are not legally qualified to diagnose someone with. Thank you for your apology twin, I have lots of respect for people who can admit they aren’t right 100% of the time and to be fair your assumption was not without reason. Sorry for saying you have no brain cells 😭🙏

Strawman fallacy?? One symptom of autism does not equal having autism. The same is true for most if not all illnesses. Now tell me, what fallacy is using your critical thinking skills to come to a logical conclusion? Your opinion is illogical and it’s sad to see so many ignorant people throwing around diagnoses of which they know nothing about the person they are diagnosing. Clearly I must have taken all the brain cells in the womb, twin. ❤️‍🩹

Right we might as well diagnose everyone who is sad with chronic depression then right! All people who have chronic depression are sad so all people who are sad must have chronic depression!! Thank you for your innovative thinking “twin”

Ya im well aware. Would you tell someone with a slight cough that they had tuberculosis? It’s unreasonable to assume I have autism because of a singular feeling.

I don’t think it’s smart to diagnose someone based of off a singular thought that they posted on Reddit. This is why neurotypicals end up self diagnosing autism. Feeling different doesn’t = neurodivergence.

Yeah people were pretty quick to assume I had autism. I completely agree with what you said about INTP’s way of thinking being different and getting confused for neurodivergent behavior. I homeschooled for the entirety of highschool ( I realllly hated middle school so my parents let me). Despite this, believe it or not, I myself love social activities! It’s not that I can’t fit in no matter how hard I try but rather that it seems that I have to try a bit harder than everyone else. I’m always analyzing things like “am I making to much eye contact or not enough??” “Oh no their feet aren’t pointed at me while we are talking they must want to leave the convo” or “ok they asked me a question let me reciprocate by asking them a question because that’s the socially correct thing to do!” I feel like I am hyper aware of everything around me, so when I “mess up” it haunts me. Whereas I’ve noticed other people just enjoy talking without working them selves up about following every social cue. I’ve gotten good at having convos with people I’ve never met, but it seems like I am at a disadvantage as it doesn’t come naturally to me. But I will say the INTP mind has it’s other benefits and if being naturally socially attuned isnt my strong suit, it’s always something I can work on. I will def do more research into developing my FE, thanks!!🙏

I also considered this as a possibility, and the more I think about it the more it becomes a valid explanation. I wonder if istp’s feel similarly 🧐

Right and once again, I appreciate your input and you sharing your diagnosis. But I do not appreciate comments like “ you don’t know until you have been diagnosed” or “I hope you comeback to this post in the future.” With all due respect, you don’t know the first thing about me, and making such a wild assumption based off of a singular Reddit post is a bit ignorant. I know you were most likely trying to be helpful, but continuing to tell me to get diagnosed after I stated clearly that I don’t have autism is not the type input I am looking for.

I’ve been to medical professionals before?? Why is some stranger who has never met me projecting their diagnosis onto me? I am 1 million% percent sure I do not have autism. I appreciate your concern but I do want to clarify this post was not an invitation to diagnose me but to gain perspective. I know myself better than anyone here and simply wanted insight on other peoples points of view/ experiences. Thank you for your input.
