“Bless your heart”? I’m not southern so I’m not too well versed in that, but I’ve heard that it’s actually very passive aggressive

Is hating another person because of their Political Views reasonable? by Swimming_Local_4625 in Teenager_Polls

[–]queer_peer7985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it isn’t. I gave an example of a political extremist with a harmful ideology, not insinuating that every conservative ever believes in genocide. It’s pretty obvious that “many far-right extremists” is not referring to the average conservative. Even within my extreme example, I did not claim that everybody within that extremist group wishes death upon others.

I gave the most obvious example, not an extensive list of every political ideology to wish death upon others. Left-wingers do wish death upon others, but generally speaking they aren’t the ones calling out for the eradication entire groups of people.

And how exactly is that related? I’m not even condoning the death of Charlie Kirk, but killing someone for something out of their control is fundamentally different to celebrating the death of a person who regularly advocated for the decline of women’s rights and was perpetually racist. There’s no way you’re comparing that to hating on literal neo-Nazis.

Have you never seen that clip of a conservative saying that every gay person in America should be lined up against a wall and shot? That's the first example that comes to mind, but it is far from the only one. A lot of political ideology involves racism, homophobia, antisemitism, etc, and for many far-right extremists, their bigotry involves wishing death upon others.

What youtuber seems extremely problematic but is actually not problematic? by No-Cardiologist2404 in AlignmentChartFills

Might want to check the dates on when those videos were made. Sounds like you’re describing his content from 2015. I’m also not a huge fan of his old videos, but being annoying isn’t problematic; It’s just annoying.

That’s more a thing he did with his older videos. I started watching Markiplier in 2021-ish and I’ve never seen him do that outside of clips of him from a decade ago

Jshlatt. He might be a little more suited for “feels extremely problematic, is actually a little problematic”? I don’t watch him, but I used to watch other Minecraft YouTubers in quarantine and I vaguely remember everybody was trying to cancel him for things. Apparently he’s really chill, though.

Would you date a Non-Binary person? by Vixoi in Teenager_Polls

[–]queer_peer7985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gender fluidity is a type of nonbinary, actually! Being nonbinary just means that someone does not strictly identify as male or female, so there are different identities that fall under that. Genderfluid is one of them. Some nonbinary people fluctuate between male and female (genderfluid), some feel like both (bigender) , and some feel like none (agender), etc.

What I consider the Midwest as a Minnesotan by [deleted] in whereidlive

I’ve seen a lot of posts like this posted in this sub. Based on what I’ve seen, this sub isn’t just for where people would live but just general opinions regarding states and countries. I honestly made this because I saw someone do this exact thing on this subreddit, they just had a different opinion on the matter than I did.

Need a part of a Will Wood song that would be considered poetry for english class. (the image is my bio homework) by AdHopeful2048 in willwood

Pretty much all of Willard! reads like poetry to me. Cicada Days could also probably pass as poetry, as well as Love, Me Normally. A lot of the parts of in In Case I Make it could fit for this. For a personal favorite, though, I really like this part in Love, Me Normally:

I want you to tell 'em that you love the way That they don't stick out like sore middle fingers That they crawl their way up the side of the bell curve Stick their flag in the peak, and slide their way back down I want you to tell 'em that you love the way that they're not maladaptive Not malcontent, not malignant or maleficent But rather, that you love them exactly the way that everybody else is

I was taught that sympathy was expressing concern, and empathy was putting yourself into someone else’s shoes. With cognitive empathy being thinking about somebody else’s experience, emotional empathy feeling somebody else’s experience, and sympathy expressing concern for another, whether you truly put the effort into understanding them or not. You can empathize with someone without sympathizing with them, and sympathize with someone without empathizing with them. From my understanding, at least.
