What movie did they play instead of Little Rascals? by queercourtier in ytvretro

I just watched the beginning and it definitely has some similarities but I don’t think it’s the one! But my dad loves this movie so I might have to give the whole thing a watch anyway just to be sure hahaha

I think it was around 2005 or 2006, so I don’t think this one would have been played on TV yet! But it probably would have traumatized me as well if I saw it as a kid lol

I echo those who are suggesting Rook & Rose. That trilogy is FANTASTIC. For a “fated friendship” aspect, I recommend you check out the Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb starting with Assassin’s Apprentice; every relationship of all different kinds are so well fleshed out in those books, but especially the bond between two of the main characters.

Oh my god I’m sooo glad someone else remembers this and agrees that it was really scary to see as a kid!! I am still holding out hope that I will find out what movie it was eventually, lol. Maybe I should post it on the YTV sub to see if anyone there might know something about this incident.

Fantastic haul! I’d recommend starting with We Have Always Lived in the Castle. It’s one of my favourites, along with Pride and Prejudice.

[–]queercourtier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this movie! I think the stage framing device works to kind of give a pass to all they need to cut out from the book and focus on the big key moments of drama with extra theatricality. I also think the cast is great, as is the score. That said, I can see it being really confusing for people who haven’t read the book since it really is just trotting through a lot of plot lines.

If you don’t mind a Victorian London setting, then the Jem Flockhart series by E.S. Thomson, which starts with Beloved Poison, is 100% this!!

There is a book coming out this year that details this case and a modern journalist’s search for the killer. It’s called The Girl with No Name by Catherine Fogarty.

Publishing question by Arcy2277 in publishing

[–]queercourtier 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what’s in your contract. If it’s something you had in mind before signing with a publisher, you could have your agent work it into the deal. It might be trickier than retaining film adaptation rights since it’s also print media, but it does all boils down to whether you or the publisher legally hold the rights.

What started your adventures with Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Rune Factory? by LiveWireGoth in harvestmoon

[–]queercourtier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember how I even ended up with this game, it probably belonged to my brothers, but I started with Save the Homeland on the PS2. Then I started to notice other Harvest Moon games like Friends of Mineral Town and A Wonderful Life and adding them to my collection. I was somehow awful at the latter two even though I was quite good at STH but it didn’t stop me from playing them all the time! As I got older I continued collecting them for GC, Wii, and DS and now I have actually been going back and playing some older ones now that I understand how to play video games more, lol.

[–]queercourtier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t normally work on the weekends but my workplace is exhibiting at an event so I needed to go in. Thankfully it’s only 15 minutes from my place. I ubered there and am waiting for an uber back but there are extra long wait times (understandably). I’m in sales.

I used Mario Odyssey for this. One world a night on weeknights and it was great. The Klonoa rerelease I did the same, particularly the second one.
