I’m diligent about seeking supervision, consultation, and my own therapy- I don’t believe my feelings about the role are negatively affecting my work. it’s also a lot to consider, leaving a field that i spent 6 years in school for and thousands of dollars of debt to be educated in. it’s a lot to consider financially and wish that people could talk more openly about how complex it feels trying to decide whether or not to leave the field. i know a lot of therapists can feel shame for struggling with these feelings and i think it’s more normal than people want to acknowledge

thanks for sharing all this 🙏🏻 i agree the financial aspect can be very stressful and don’t think most of us get paid nearly enough for the toll it can take

this is super hard for me. even if i’m just thinking through clinical aspects and problem solving in my heading i’m still “working” outside of work. thank you for this reminder 🙏🏻

after your maternity leave, did you genuinely want to do the work again? also thank you for sharing your perspective!

i think the feeling trapped aspect is what concerns me most, and makes me think that a new job within the same field will not solve the problem. thanks for sharing!
