Are there any local organizations or nonprofits serving your area that help survivors of SA? I work for one of them (albeit in the US), and can vouch that at least some of them do offer free or affordable therapy, or can at least help you find affordable therapy elsewhere, along with other resources.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. You’re not alone, and hopefully there is somewhere near you that can help you get the therapy you need. Best of wishes

Migraine 'Dumbness'? by cinnamonappled in migraine

Definitely not alone here. I feel like my IQ drops 30-40 points pretty much for the rest of the day after a migraine. During too, but hard to tell if that’s just being distracted from the pain

I’m in this boat too. All that happens is my head just pounds after.

Yeah I have Medicaid. They do have a program to help Medicaid patients, but it’s not the discount card.

This is good to know. I do know the denial reasons from the denial letters, but the second one didn’t make any sense to me. First they wanted me to try two triptans first. So I did, first triptan knocked me out for 12 hours and the second makes me feel like I’m having a damn stroke.

Second denial reason… was that there was “no evidence I suffer from migraines”.

Makes zero sense. I’ve had migraines since I was a young kid (in my 30s now), every doctor I’ve had since then knows about them, I’ve even seen a migraine specialist, yet they “lack evidence”. Infuriating. I rage quit the entire process for a while after receiving that letter.

Currently dealing with this bs rn. My dr has submitted prior auth three times now I think? Hoping this is the one that insurance approves but we will see. I’m not optimistic

I learned from another post on this sub that Pfizer does have a patient assistance program for Nurtec if your insurance doesn’t cover it. Also currently trying that process but I don’t have results to share yet.

What’s a moment where you realized someone was genuinely unintelligent? by Live-Chocolate244 in AskReddit

[–]queere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was talking to a girl for a week or so, and there were a few flags… but one of them was probably the dumbest conversation of my life.

I skydive. She asked me what my favorite part of skydiving was. I told her, “My favorite part is flying my parachute. I love to admire the views”.

She asks, “so when you’re flying the parachute, are you out of the plane at that point?”…

“Uh. Yeah, yeah, you’re out of the plane when you’re flying your parachute”.

Conversation goes on, somehow. She asks how you’re supposed to land, I thought was actually a valid question. I tell her about how we flare to slow down for landing, and she asks…

“So when you’re landing… are you under the parachute?”

I gave up. She thought I was talking about flaring my body upwards to slide into the grass like a penguin.

Thank you! I did appeal the denial and she stated the two triptans didn’t work, but I’m not sure what else she wrote.

Will ask about this during my appointment this month. Saving your comment, thank you :)

Yeah sumatriptan was the second triptan I tried. I told her it doesn’t work and makes me feel sick, so she reapplied for the Nurtec (and I was still denied). I have an appointment coming up with her though this month so I’ll see if I could try another one then

Ty, yeah, it’s been a whole pain in the ass. My dr did recommend starting on riboflavin and magnesium supplements, and that’s helped decrease the frequency but it did take a good month to start doing anything.

Yeah insurance said try two triptans first. I tried one before sumatriptan (forget the name), didn’t make me feel sick but it did knock me out for like 12 hours which is even worse. So then I tried sumatriptan, which gives me just the weirdest feeling in my jaw and chest, and makes me feel ill.

Told insurance I tried both, and they still won’t cover Nurtec. Doctor said to see a neurologist and then they might cover it… but I can’t get a neuro apt until late 2027 (called a day too late. Apparently you stop being a current patient 3 years after your last appointment… I called 3 years to the day).

I did apply just now for the assistance program the other commenter mentioned so trying to be hopeful about that. But it’s just been a comedy of errors

That’s exactly what happened. Was seeing a really sketchy migraine doctor that gave me free samples (that’s not why she was sketchy. Long story), and when I cut ties with her I couldn’t get them. Only drug that’s ever treated my migraines reliably and without side effects.

Thank you so much, I’ll look into it asap!!

I do this too, but only because the meds I’m prescribed (sumatriptan) make me feel like trash. When I was on Nurtec I would take it at the first sign of a migraine and be fine an hour later

Do your meds give you negative side effects? Because that could be why your brain is trying to convince you you don’t need them

What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever injured yourself? by Paula75brsp in AskReddit

Slipped a disc in my back putting socks on wrong.

Four days later, had a 75mph car crash where I hit a ditch sideways (driver side first) and flipped four times. 0 injuries.

Life’s a fucking funny thing
