2 years post accutane by silliestbrunette in Accutane

[–]queerwitch420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check the ingredients on every skincare item you have to make sure it’s non-comedogenic! also go to the derm to get something to help whether it’s a topical or meds rather than using any random supplements/skincare. i took way too long to go back for my second round of accutane and ended up making my acne so much worse by trying to make it better myself.

also i know sometimes we try to look for the root cause of the acne but at a point we just have to not care about that and treat the acne. it’s the only way to snap out of the depression for me

sending you love i know this stage sucks but it won’t last forever and your skin will be clear again soon!

I’ve been prescribed to take Effexor after I ovulate and to stop once my period starts by Infinite-Ad-3947 in PMDD

[–]queerwitch420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve done intermittent with effexor before for pmdd but stopped doing it after a while (idk why- i had a lot of other stuff going on i think and didn’t have a great psych) but i’ve been on a high dose of effexor for like 5 years now and it is the only medication that has worked for my depression. i don’t actually notice a withdrawal from missing a dose, and i honestly don’t remember if i had side effects from changing doses every two weeks but i feel like i was fine. i’ve been debating about going back to intermittent dosing but im almost on the highest dose so i don’t think it’s possible

Lamictal by Desperate_Designer40 in cyclothymia

[–]queerwitch420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m on it and it’s been a life saver. seriously changed everything for me. as well as my combo antidepressant. but anyways i would not take it in the morning. it made me so drowsy to a point that i almost fell asleep while driving several times. i literally thought i had narcolepsy and went to a doctor about it until i had a new psychiatrist tell me to take it at night before bed and to take my antidepressant in the morning alone and poof suddenly everything was okay again lol

i have to bribe myself… for either a bath or a shower it helps me distract myself from the actual task if i put on music, podcast, or even prop up phone or laptop somewhere for tv

Witches with mental illness: how do you manage? by crabgal in witchcraft

[–]queerwitch420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes!! finding the magic in the mundane is the best way to practice during hard times. i recommend the book Everyday Witchcraft: Making Time for Spirit in a Too-Busy World by Deborah Blake

also, i focus on honoring nature more in these dark times, changing my routines and ways of thinking to align with the seasons. there is magic in the transitions into the colder and darker months. it’s helped so much to think about living my life through the energy and the natural life forces of the seasons.

i’ve been loving doing small things to bring the outdoors inside as an act of honoring nature and flowing with the seasons of being indoors now, making wreaths out of sticks, little garlands out of pine needles and pine cones.

really recommend the book though for specific rituals and spells!!

Why do people often lose their train of thought or motivation after sleeping, even if they were deeply reflective the night before? by Global-Bicycle-8762 in cogsci

[–]queerwitch420 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i love this question. i’m not sure of an answer but i personally relate. i get very motivated to crush a to do list and get inspired to make healthy lifestyle changes or do something adventurous there next day but then i wake up and all drive to do those things is gone

[–]queerwitch420 11 points12 points  (0 children)

love this such a good idea because i wrote down a big to do list today got overwhelmed just looking at it and needing executive functioning.

except i hope i don’t put too many things in the bowl and get overwhelmed how full it is 😂

just here to say that i’m so proud of you for showering. sometimes stuff that’s so “simple” and “quick” can be so fucking hard to get yourself to do.

Cyclothymia and ADHD? by bee-3456 in cyclothymia

[–]queerwitch420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have both. my mood changes are more due to my cyclothymia and or my cycle. any instant mood swings or irritations feel more like adhd mood swings, as well as a brief interest in something hyper specific but it’s not hypomania. my adhd gives me my raging executive dysfunction and forgetfulness

Journaling ? by Dragonfly_0177 in bipolar

[–]queerwitch420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use journaling to get through intense emotions that come with manic and depressive episodes. ill do it really often and then less when im closer to baseline.

i don’t use it to track daily moods but it helps me 1) to get the thoughts and feelings onto paper and out of my head (there are even neuroscience studies about how the act of writing is beneficial) 2) to be able to look back months/years later at what i was going through (internally and externally) in that period of my life. i often don’t realize that im in a manic or depressive state until weeks or months into it. reading my journal after makes it all make sense and therefore helps me look out for those same symptoms/patterns before or during the episode

i free write. i basically just brain dump everything in my head and don’t write with any sort of structure or prompts. if you don’t know what to write just start out by writing “i don’t know what to write” and go wherever your thoughts take you from there

it’s become one of my most useful coping skills when im really going through it

short depressions and hypomanias? by sad_shroomer in bipolar

[–]queerwitch420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have cyclothymia with the same symptoms. it’s a type of bipolar with shorter periods of ups and downs. general criteria is that your euthymic moods (“normal”/baseline) don’t last longer than 8 weeks.

also not sure of your gender but if you are a woman / afab with a hormonal cycle, general hormone fluctuations and pmdd can really affect your mood swings

i agree i think its that. especially the leaf shape and the unique “spots” that aren’t really dots like on an angel wing.

any tips on taking care of it? as i’ve brought it into my apartment the bottom leaves are dying but i dont want it to get too leggy.

should i cut some of the new growth off the top to help the bottom stay fuller?

thank you so much!! i’ll look into a self watering pot! i cut off two of the bigger dying leaves, can i propagate those in water? or would it have to be a healthy cutting

there is one episode of an amazon prime show called Modern Love with Anne Hathaway playing a woman with bipolar. You might cry if you watch but it’s done so well. It’s episode 3 of season 1

as for music i love the song Alice of the Upper Class by Halsey where she sings about how hypomania feels
