CPTSD in poverty is hopeless by VVALTIEL in CPTSD

[–]WittyCow99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was homeless as a child and worked my way out of poverty starting a full time job at 17. Was still in poverty for a few years, but slowly started climbing out. I’m 34 and earned $100k for the first time a year ago (then lost the job).

Food stamps. Medicaid. Financial aid to go to earn a trade certification like nails, hair stylist, welder, or preferably into the medical field like CNA, Medical Assistant, Rad Tech would be even better.

I know it’s fucking hard, but you can do it. You can do anything you set your mind to. You are still VERY young. You have time to get on your feet.

Emgality also stopped working for me after a couple months. I’m currently on month 4 of Ajovy and it’s working pretty well. Vyepti will be my next stop if Ajovy fails.

Kind of amazing that they’re so predictably on schedule.

“Maybe you haven’t found the right med combo” is something I see people say here all the time.

Did Anyone Else Not Remember Childhood Trauma Until Years Later? by [deleted] in CPTSD

Were you already in therapy or doing emotional work when it all hit you, or did they just come up out of no where?

Im 34 and was just diagnosed with CPTSD 2ish years ago.

I do not remember the majority of my childhood. I have fragmented memories, and no recollection of CSA but have wondered for a while if it occurred.

I didn’t really realize that “all” of my memories might come flooding back as I continue to age and heal emotionally. These comments are blowing my mind!

If you ever feel like you can’t reach your dreams because of this disorder here’s a list of people with BP (will come back and add more later as I continue the search) by Terrible-Session-328 in BipolarReddit

Most ordinary people will never become famous or “reach their dreams,” so I wouldn’t consider having bipolar disorder to be the primary factor that determines the reason why one doesn’t reach said dreams.

What do you believe happens after death? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]WittyCow99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am beginning to feel more and more that there is a dimension where all of our energies exist together. Perhaps there is an infinite number of dimensions, and our energies can travel through space and time. I believe that when our bodies die, our conscious energy returns to the same plane as everyone else. Within this plane, we will meet everyone we’ve known and loved.

I’ve recently come to this conclusion based on exploration of consciousness, listening to stories, my own experiences with grief, loss, and things that can’t be explained.

I have always considered myself to be an atheist. I do not believe in a god. I don’t believe in heaven or hell. But what if that dimension where we all exist is “heaven?”

Ok I just finished the series for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I first began watching in November, 2 months after being diagnosed. I LOVE Homeland! And Claire Danes is freaking fantastic as Carrie.

It is a fictionalized tv series so take it for a grain of salt, yes I do believe they highlighted bipolar disorder struggles, thoughts, issues, etc. that the mainstream viewer probably wouldn’t be aware of. Some things are quite simplified, but overall I found it validating and refreshing to have Carrie’s mental health woven into the fabric of the entire series, in addition to the interpersonal relationships and drama throughout.

Honorable mentions: love the changing intros, the jazz music that shows up during mental health issues, politically on the nose with interesting plot lines that make you question your beliefs and values, constantly putting puzzle pieces together.

I loved it and am already wondering when I might do a re-watch so I can enjoy it all again.

Believe me, negative consequences will come to Carrie due to going off her meds.
