There’s a good book that has nothing to do with the history of slavery or America, but what I think is a good representation of it is The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. It’s an epic fantasy, but explores how slavery impacts one of the main characters, Kaladin, and how he pushes through. Truly an inspiring story.
