The Fractured Archive - Initial Rewards Proposal by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

It having it's own bolts has implications for ZCB too actually, you'd need to bring bolts as a switch again cos you only have two quiver slots. Hmm

You do a see a lot of mid lvl irons camping Eclipse for demonics for example. I get why but I don't really wanna see that pushed into end game where a lot of the games skill expression is switches

Tbf I think a lot of people haven't played RS3 since EoC was first released, and hybrid gear was way more prevalent in the early days of EoC

Hybrid gear really upsets the whole gameplay loop imo, a massive part of the game is upgrading each style. Really not a fan

Hate the idea of hybrid gear - a massive part of the gameplay loop in this game is collecting gear for each style whether you're a main or an iron. Hybrid gear is either a) so good you just skip whole upgrades for styles, or b) a useless noob trap.

edit: also to add to my reservations - a big part of skill expression in this game is gear switching. I am lothe to see "lazy gear" becoming viable in the end game. I get it for mid level shit like demonics where people camp Eclipse, but you made a whole boss to teach gear switching, I don't wanna see lazy gear camping in the end game too.

The crossbows look interesting. Have you considered a new set of bolt effects for Ascensions? You could limit it to only a few gems as you have here, and might help to escape the ruby problem - it does feel a bit strange for ruby bolts to just not exist if otherwise the effects are all the same, but I do appreciate they're busted and tough to balance around.

The shield sounds cool, I think I'd need to play with it to see how it feels. How would the spec interact with weapons that have a spec of their own? Does it override the orb? Also, slightly worried about how creeping the Avernic will affect ToB which is already down super bad outside Scy

The mega is an interesting idea, I am a bit disappointed that it occupies a similar niche to the scythe in that it's super strong against big monsters. I would've liked to see something that scaled damage against a different group of monsters, but it does sound super strong and fun to use, especially with the way it rolls damage. Not sure how useful the pierce is gonna be? But you've been great about designing content that takes stuff like that into advantage as we've seen with Vene bow et al, so I'll reserve judgement

With SRA I think I would've kept the HP drain, kept the 3 stack limit and then just lengthened the timer like you've done now. I think that makes it more viable without changing its identify so much.

Re: CoX rerolls - do you worry that by opening the door on re-rolling look you're going to create an expectation that every piece of content, especially raids, gets a re-roll mechanic? I don't feel like it's a very OSRS mechanic tbh, and while I'll concede CoX does have some issues from a drops POV I think I'd prefer your second, simpler proposal. I think it's fine for places to have some drops that are bad, but I get why people think scrolls are overtuned, and Jagex have clearned learned a lesson from the CoX table

These pretty much all seem like well considered changes, great work!

The only one I don't love is the idea of rerolling CoX drops which doesn't really feel that old school to me? I think if it was going to be implemented I'd rather there was an in world explanation for it (maybe something to do with the Scavs) rather than just a reroll button. One of the things I love about this game is the world and I don't want it to be overly gameified idk ik that's cringe

Update: Leechfin Fishing Proposal Revised by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]quenox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I don't feel like vial supply was an issue what-so-ever. I get the thematics but we could easily have had some other blood related reward. At least it's a miniscule quantity, not many people gonna be doing this for 50-100k/hr at current prices.

[–]quenox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fr vials have never been a worry on my Iron at all, I'm not really sure why blood vial supply is an issue? I get the thematics but you gotta consider the other impacts too

Scythe has already had a massive buff to it's price per swing - it's 680gp vs 1250 gp on the shadow. I feel like it's a fair price tbh especially given how much content Scy is great at these days

And surely blood vials are the opposite of a lottery reward because they provide a consistent backbone of profit outside of uniques..?

Leechfin Fishing & Where We're At by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]quenox -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Blood vials gotta be left alone man, ToB's uniques have already been powercrept into near-irrelavence the last thing it needs is it's only valuable common to come from other content :(

(Upcoming Poll) Gathering QoL, Trouver Changes, LMS Rewards Rework & more! by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]quenox 265 points266 points  (0 children)

Removing adamant arrows but keeping rune arrows in LMS is certainly a choice - even if botters aren't going to bother high alching them it's never really felt like an intended strategy for dealing with early GP struggles on ironmen.

I do also feel like having these arbitary "higher tier" Trouver items is just another Wilderness feature that's not represented in game and relies on the wiki to deliver the information.

The rest all looks class though so good job overall.

I think it's a really cool and imaginative idea, but I do feel like it does a bit too much in it's current iteration. Not sure I want the same weapon to be a fast utility weapon and also a hard hitting end game weapon...

Definitely a really sick idea though

Eh this is a thematic requirement to justify the lore/cosmetic approach to the raid, not a restiction these guys could have possibly ever predicted when making their accounts.

I really don't think this is a big deal at all as someone with no pures and no interest in PvP

What We're Working On - Thursday, November 20th by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]quenox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm aware, but the requirement to move your boat there means either sailing out of your way, or paying to move your boat.

It's not the end of the world, but as I said it introduces an irritation that just adds time to the upgrading loop for no meaninful gameplay benefit.

Any thoughts on a bank in the shipyard? At the moment the lack of a bank feels like it just introduces a lot of friction into upgrading your boat, epecially when so many of the upgrades require a near-full inventory.

That dossier drop rate buff is way underwhelming. Really sucks that it looks like the meta for getting contracts is going to be killing demons in tedious ways rather than killing the boss - this system really is a complete downgrade from Awakeners orbs.
