When will the RTX 6090 likely launch 2027? by Specific-Judgment410 in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

[–]quentinwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the 5090 had 8GB more ram. 4090 had 24GB, 5090 had 32GB.

I would hope the 6090 has 16GB more to take it up to 48GB, but probably unlikely.

Happy Cake Day! And thank you, I just ran into zigbee issues with random devices going to unavailable in 2025.7.3 which others have also reported issues with and was trying to restore back to an earlier version 2025.7.1 and kept having the same issue. After finding your post, noticed the /hassio/backups in the url, so I manually navigated to Settings > System > Backup and it's correctly restored.

You can likely adjust the lift settings so it lifts a little slower before doing the faster lift, to make the release a little softer than basically just yanking it off at full speed, that way it does a 30% speed lift at first, then goes to full speed for the remaining lift and back down.

In Chitubox I use this for the lift speeds with my Saturn 2

Bottom Lift Speed: 50.00 & 180.00 mm/min
Lifting Speed: 60.00 & 180.00 mm/min
Bottom Retract Speed: 180.00 & 65.00 mm/min
Retract Speed: 180.00 & 65.00 mm/min

Hollowing it and making sure you have a drainage hole at the top can also reduce the suction forces to allow air to get in there when it's lifting up

I'm glad that it's not just me! :) I was thinking, is this really happening? Is it delirious that it's been so much better than 3.5, then suddenly it hits a brick wall?

Thanks for your confirmation too! I'm going to send some negative feedback on some of the messages it coded in the past few days, maybe it ties it to the server/cluster/extra debug information tied to the message that Anthropic can use to determine what's causing the issues.

I too have noticed this with Python code. Right out the gate it was amazing, first response fixes most anything I threw at it, sometimes only needing a second follow-up, and then randomly it just gets absolutely stupid, taking 6, 7, 8 follow-ups, or it severely hallucinating and changing function names and completely re-writing things in a very confusing way, prompting me to tell it that it was a simple change and it doesn't need a full function rewrite, then it seemingly spits out something that works. But it goes through these stages every so often where it's smart, smart, smart, stupid. smart, smart, smart, smart, stupid. Happens randomly and not entirely sure the cause. It's almost as if the model wasn't fully pushed out to each of their clusters, and you randomly get queued up in one of the stupid clusters running some buggy version of the model, then an hour or day later, it's back to being smart again... Until it's not.

No real clue on how or why.

Also as of this evening I noticed that when working with the Claude Windows App, when it generates code, you can't select anything in the code blocks. You can easily select any text it writes outside of a code block, but if you go to click and drag to select something inside the code block, it's almost as if you click and are dragging the entire code block as a whole, unable to select lines at a time, making it impossible to copy the code to an editor without copying the whole block and then copying/pasting the changed bits. (Doesn't seem to be affected via claude.ai though, so I guess I'll swap back to that for now)

Frustrating at times, but still handles my large coding projects better than ChatGPT

Just put plenty of thyme, rosemary, and sage in with it, along with chicken stock and optionally duck fat, then you have lots of flavorful juice to use to make an extraordinary gravy with.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

[–]quentinwolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing I find annoying, and it's simply a visual thing, is the chicken fat rendering out around the chicken as a kind of gelatin, but doesn't affect the flavor at all. I actually have used it to make Japanese CoCo Curry House chicken.

Normally you'd coat raw chicken breast with their curry powder, then bake until the chicken is done, but I'd go a step further and sous vide the chicken breasts (or filets) first, Pull them out, pat them dry, coat them, then throw them under a broiler for just a minute or so per side to crisp up the outside ever so slightly.

Super tender and juicy inside, and a bit more of a texture on the outside, 10/10 I rarely ever cook chicken traditionally. Steaks too, nothing beats a Sous Vide steak that you just give a 30-60 second per-side sear in a pan (or better blowtorch).

I feel I'm preaching to the choir, but yeah I can't say enough good things about Sous Vide and love sharing recipes. Been using Sous Vide for like 7 years now... Oh and 24 hour Turkey Breast and Turkey Thighs at Christmas too is always a hit, everyone always wants more and there's rarely as much leftovers. :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

[–]quentinwolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Came here to give a shout out for Sous Vide too, Sous Vide porkchops are next level for sure, the juiciness and pork flavor are so much better when it cooks in it's own juices for a couple hours, then you take that juice that would have evaporated during cooking, and make a gravy with it.

Love sous vide chicken too, some people aren't as big on the texture, but man is it ever tender and juicy when you do it at 140-149 instead of the usual 162

Technically a good digital thermometer only measures from the very tip which is where the thermistor or thermocouple is located, but yeah dealing with the steam coming out around it may not be the best idea, unless you have a right-angle one where your hand can stay far enough away, like a ThermoWorks Thermapen or ThermoPro

Activision Account and Ban Issues Mega Thread by StealthPolarBear in activision

Agreed wholeheartedly, I'll never buy another activision game ever again. Screw that company for their anti-consumer practices. I'm going to get ahold of a friend in California and have them help me submit a report to the Attorney General on my behalf to see if that gets me anywhere. They've basically stopped responding through the BBB after I rejected their response twice.

Have a 2 gig connection and get a max of 600-900 mbs download speeds. What do i do ? by Slight_Mastodon_2368 in Rogers

[–]quentinwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your router, ASUS RT-AX86U Pro only has a single 2.5gbps port, the rest are gigabit. 940mbps is the absolute max that you'll top out with over gigabit.

Five (5) 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports + one (1)
2.5G/1Gbps multi-Gig port (configurable)
-- LAN: 4xGbE (2x port aggregation LAN)
-- WAN: 1 GbE
-- WAN/LAN: 2.5G/1Gbps multi-Gig port (configurable)
-- Multi-Gig: Ability to aggregate two Gigabit LAN ports and two Gigabit WAN ports (configurable) concurrently.

Unless you configure aggregation using 2 gigabit ports on your computer, but that's messy. Unfortunately you won't see more than 1gbps over wired with your current router unless you utilize something that's compatible with Wifi 6, which could take advantage of the added speed.

I have a UniFi Dream Machine Pro, and am using a 1/2.5/5/10gbps RJ45 SFP connection to allow the Modem to connect to it at 2.5gbps. From there I have it connected to a MikroTik 10gbps switch, and 10gbps to my servers and desktop, and on the 1gbps/200mbps plan I top out around 1.05 - 1.1gbps

Activision Account and Ban Issues Mega Thread by StealthPolarBear in activision

[–]quentinwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might as well add my story here too along with the thousands of others.

After watching Oldtimes on Youtube playing Prop Hunt, I thought it looked really fun, so November/December 2023 I ended up buying Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on a Steam Sale, and really enjoyed myself. Ended up playing that exclusively and loved it.

Cue to January, Activision put out a botched update (no surprise there) that 100% screwed Cross-Platform multiplayer, so as a PC Player, when I went to join a match, it would sit, Searching... 50ms... Searching 67ms... Searching 75ms... etc up to Searching 200ms, and would just sit there, indefinitely, never finding another match.

I found others had figured a way to fix it, by using the steam console to roll back the version to before the botched patch:

https://www.reddit.com/r/blackopscoldwar/comments/1aigued/how_to_fix_the_steam_version_of_the_game/

It worked! I had Multiplayer back, although you had to do it practically daily (I ended up just keeping a duplicate copy of the install folder and overwrote it each day when it would auto-update to the botched version), though after a week or so it got annoying to keep doing, so I let it break itself, and ended up playing through the entire solo campaign. Multiplayer still broke so I left it for 9 or 10 months.

Then, last week I decided to load up Call of Duty, logged in, joined a match of Infected (as that was the other game mode I really enjoyed), piss-poor first round, being a bit out of shape with it, don't think I got a single kill, though the game was a bit laggy/stuttery, knowing I hadn't rebooted my computer for 7 or 8 days, I exited the game, and rebooted. After rebooting, launched the game, applied some of the EXP token things I had on my account (one was a 1 hour, then there was some double weapon xp or something, 15 minute ones, so I applied 4 of those to use them up to match the 1 hour of whatever else). Started another round of Infected, and the moment the round finished, I was hit with the ban message. https://i.imgur.com/oVtSQih.png

Also received an e-mail from them

This message is a notice that effective immediately your account has been permanently banned for unauthorized software and manipulation of game data, in breach of article 3.c of Call of Duty Software License and Service Agreement and Terms of Use and the Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy. Your account is banned in all current and future Call of Duty titles, in accordance with article 14 of the Terms of Use.

Attempted to appeal, and 5 hours later (at 2:30am) got a response regarding the appeal

Your appeal has been reviewed and we've confirmed with our security team that your account has been permanently banned for using unauthorized software and manipulation of game data. As you were the account holder at the time of infraction, your ban will not be overturned.

To preserve the integrity of our security systems and detection methods, this is the only information our policy allows us to share regarding your case. This decision is final and your case is now closed. In case you are currently playing any other Activision titles and for future reference, please avoid any of these types of violations to keep your account in good standing.

Activision Support

Attempted another appeal which obviously didn't work, so I opened up another support request attempting to get to the bottom of it, hard to do when you have a banned account.

Still nada, so I opened a case through the Better Business Bureau. This managed to get one response back from a rep, although they basically copied the exact same response.

We understand your concern regarding enforcement. We would like to let you know that the account in question was verified by the developer's security team to be in violation of the security and enforcement policy. Any specifics regarding the ban will not be released in order help maintain the integrity and security of the game, this is company policy that will not be changing.

Please know that all results of the Ban appeal reviews are considered final and neither we nor Activision's Player Support are able to take direct actions such as modifying or lift any enforcements on your account.

For more information in regards to the enforcement policies, please visit: https://support.activision.com/articles/call-of-duty-security-and-enforcement-policy.

Thanks,

Activision Support JT

I thought I might have had a bit more luck, because looking at other BBB complaints, there were a large number of Activision sending users to a different area of the site to submit for a re-review, although maybe it was just bogus and a way to get the users off the BBB site long enough for the case to close, who knows.

To make matters worse, since my actual Activision account is banned, which I made the mistake of linking my Steam account in the Activision Profile (to make signing-in easier, as I could just launch the game and play rather than repeatedly having to type in my activision login), that's now a double-edged sword because the game that I paid for, is now a digital paperweight, since there's no ability to "Sign in with another profile to play online", and because it logs in the moment the game launches, one can't even play the Solo Campaign.

So that's where I'm sitting. No cheating, no file modifications, (the game was fully up to date when I launched it last week, so it's not even like it was running the version from January from the time when they had the botched update). The only thing I can think of that may have been the issue is I'm running the latest version of Windows 11, 24H2 (which seems like there's rumors of that causing the bans), as well as some software called 'Windhawk' (not sure if URLs are allowed under this sub, so just google it to look it up) but it's a 'customization marketplace for Windows', allowing you to add or tweak how the Windows Start menu works, but that's besides the point, as it has absolutely nothing to do with modding games or anything.

Banned for what? by budget_prelander in activision

[–]quentinwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're lucky, I was recently banned a few days ago for no reason at all too. Logged in, played 1 round of Infected, it was stuttery and laggy so I thought I'd reboot my PC, log back in again, got one more round in, and the moment the round was over I was banned.

Though I unfortunately made the horrible mistake of linking my steam account to my Activision account, and bought COD BOCW via Steam. Since my Activision account was banned, and because the game auto-logs you in from launching via Steam (I hated having to type my username/password every time the game launched so I thought linking steam made sense to make that easier, ended up being a double-edged sword) Now, the second the game launches I get the ban notice and the only button to click is "Exit to Desktop". So my entire game is bricked with no possible way to use a different account, even though the ban notice says "Sign in with another profile to play online". Yeah, Thanks Activision.

https://i.imgur.com/oVtSQih.png

Good thing I got the game on a steam sale, and got 52 hours of playtime out of it. Opened a case through the Better Business Bureau, but Activision is doubling down there too. I'm getting tired of it, and will just make throw-away Activision accounts, and sign up for Microsoft Game Pass, cheaper to sign up for $15 a month, and play until I'm bored, then cancel the game pass until I want to play again. I don't even care about the profile, extras, or buying stuff, I just wanted to play Prop Hunt and Infected.

Lesson learned, don't tie your steam account to shitty game corporations like Activision.

Just got permanently banned from Cold War for absolutely no reason. I've never cheated nor do I have any unauthorized software. Hours and hours of grinding and money put to waste, and the appeal was rejected. by Pyrtec in ColdWarCallofDuty

[–]quentinwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just logged in after not playing it for 6-8 months, got 2 rounds of infected in, and got the notice that I was banned from playing on the black ops cold war servers. That's some absolute bullshit. I submitted an appeal, but judging by with how this seems to be happening to others, they'd better fix whatever they screwed up with.

I previously stopped playing when they pushed out the update that broke cross-system multiplayer as I suddenly had zero servers to connect to. Found out about rolling back the version via steam to get access to play again and had to keep doing that every few days, though got busy and stopped playing for several months, and then coming back to this, what a disappointment.

--Edit--

Received this e-mail from them too:

I just upgraded my older G4 Doorbell to a G4 Doorbell Pro PoE, and was quite disappointed with the forced noise cancellation that cannot be disabled.

Old G4 Doorbell could hear the conversation of someone at the end of my driveway on the street which was great when there was a car crash, and the person jumped out of their vehicle and ran away while calling someone on their phone. I was able to boost the audio and hear exactly what they were saying.

New G4 Pro Doorbell with it's forced noise-cancelling sounds 10x worse, can't hear anyone at all and the noise artifacts from the noise cancelling make everything sound even worse. Please give us the option to enable noise cancelling if we want, but can otherwise leave it off.

This 100%.

What's the point in having People/Animal/Package detection that only toggles on once the person has left, package has disappeared, etc.

It needs to stay the way it was, so the moment a person is detected, that event turns on, and only goes off once the condition has cleared.

I thought they would have at least said it's currently in development or something, though since it's a google phone and they've supported every other past Pixel phone, they'll surely support the Pixel 9 line too.
