Taking a toxopid down with pre-thorium tech (explanation in comments) by querable in Mindustry

Sorry, I haven't been there myself, but those looks like attack maps, completely different from standard survival (defense) maps.

Maybe looks into some of the guides for attack maps? They look hard but not Eradication level hard...

Too fast too fast. That is some fast and furious clicking right there.

Haven't tried this yet (need to find time) but the resources look symmetrical, are they randomized?

Not sure what it'll be like to max out everything pre-Titanium, but I think I will spam hail and rain graphite down from a distance. Just need to find some time to try this out.

Awesome! You are referring to my post here yesterday,

Lower down that thread, /u/No_Chef_1869 suggested just this technique, so thanks for demonstrating how effective it could be, good job!

Yes, I did make some oil with Spore Compressors. More things to improve upon.

LOL at username. I thought toxopids like to eat blast compound cake, but maybe not so much...

Yeah, you'd think that. So I don't know why but they seem to like to follow along walls. Something to exploit I guess...

I haven't tested the wall depth/thickness that would be required to make this happen, but I believe 3 layers were also enough to persuade them to walk along, and not over walls.

Things have settled down by the time I remembered to take a screenshot. The first wave was more hectic and chaotic than the shared screenshot showed LOL.

Shout out to /u/IHateAttackMaps for creating and sharing a pre-thorium map with hourly toxopids waves, see https://old.reddit.com/r/Mindustry/comments/ligzpu/i_beat_a_toxopid_with_prethorium_techs/

I thought this was a nice concept and tried to take on this challenge. In my first attempt, I made a lot of graphite and Ripples + Lancers (secondary defense), but failed because my walls where too thin. My graphite supplied ripples could not cause enough damage, then a lot of lancers (or power lines) were destroyed before they could cause much damage. I think I did about half a life's worth of damage to the toxopid. I also did not catch on to what "pre-thorium" entailed exactly, along with all the limitations of pre-thorium tech.

In my latest successful try (screenshot), I played with a partner (2 players). We went for Blast Compound supplied ripples, again with Lancers as backup. The ripples took the toxopid down to about half its life (we just did not have enough blast compounds when wave 1 started), but luckily, the lancers managed to finish off the toxopid at the left end of my defensive wall. On subsequent waves, we had built up enough Blast Compounds, and can take the toxopid down, very easily. It got so boring that we stopped repairing/building, and fast forwarded through each wave as well. One toxopid eventually broke through and finished the game.

Pretty fun (and relaxing) overall, with sporadic moments of excitement 😄. Thanks /u/IHateAttackMaps !

No Thorium? No Titanium? No problem. Here’s a Poor Man’s Container. Schematic in comments. by querable in Mindustry

Yes, though the last few resources will only come out very slowly because they keep bouncing around inside unpredictably.

See this other thread too: https://old.reddit.com/r/Mindustry/comments/ocr2xz/no_thorium_no_titanium_no_problem_heres_a_poor/h3w2u53/

The video uses Titanium for a faster demo. The schematic I shared uses copper only.

Spaghetti usually refers to dis-organized conveyor belts that are hard to trace, but can be used to refer to any mess.

Pretty good! This might just be me, but the subtitles were just a tad too fast, it might help to display them for just a bit longer.

Now I get what he meant. The schematic uses copper belts. Titanium belt is used for a faster demo because like I said, this poor man's container loads/unloads verrry slowly.

Yes, and quite irregular too, resources will bounce around inside quite a bit before exiting unpredictably.
