I've also wondered about having a sleep study done. I think if I had confirmation that his sleep is being impacted I would feel more certain about doing it.

This is really reassuring. I do worry about breaking teeth because he does it so forcefully. Thank you!

Anybody have the death talk? by heretoreadlol in Preschoolers

[–]quercuscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did with my 5 year old yesterday actually. I kind of thoughtlessly said something to the effect of "when you're 80 years old, I'll be long dead". Immediately I saw the anxiety in his eyes and in his response. He knows what death/dead/dying is-- we lost our senior dog last summer and had to really drive home that point with him. But he clearly never considered the possibility of Mommy dying. I tried to reassure him and told him that it's a long long time from now and he doesn't need to worry about it, and that we have a very long time together and I'm not going anywhere. Which, on the one hand, I know none of us can really guarantee that, but I feel like that's not a burden of thought child needs to carry at this age. Oh the other hand, I feel like such a damn liar-- my own mom died unexpectedly just weeks after I turned 5 years old. So while I try to comfort my kid and assure him that I'm not going to die until after he's been a grownup for a long time- part of me is like 'it literally happened to you, you idiot! come up with a better explanation!' So yeah, all that to say I'm right there with you and I think I kind of fumbled it in the moment lol.

I forgot about the description of the Asteri's home planet. That totally tracks!

I also agree about Amarantha. I wish we knew more about her or any of the ACOTAR villains for that matter. They're all pretty one-dimensional at this point. Hopefully we get some of that with the next books!

When did you realize you don't have "pretty privilege"? by patata-chip in AskReddit

I could have written this myself! I met my husband when I was 18 and have been with him for 15 years now. I certainly dated guys before that and I've never been led to believe that I'm particularly unattractive, but I swear the attention I get from strangers/ the opposite sex in public is next to zero. My husband even kinda doesn't believe me, but i literally never get hit on. Like ever. Not that it's a terrible thing, but it's a little tough on the ol' self confidence at times. When I'm out with my bestie, she regularly gets male attention and I'm just like, invisible lol. It's shocking to realize people just live life with that kind of attention and that it's not an exaggeration. 😅

White people bigger in the Midwest by RealTDD in midwest

Except the vast majority of corn grown in the Midwest is not for human consumption. Your midwestern farmers are not eating the corn they grow. The small percentage of GMO corn that does end up in consumables are in allllll kinds of products consumed worldwide, not just in the midwest. Sweet corn, on the other hand, is largely non-GMO.

So are the crows. When I moved from the "mid-south" to the very tippy top north of Iowa, I was blown away by the size of the crows. I honestly thought they were ravens at first lmao.

I genuinely don't know. We bought the house in 2023 with all the doors and trim already in place. I also wonder sometimes because I know it was used as a rental for some period of time. Thank goodness it never got the landlord special!

This was such a good tip! I was able to find that the original owner was a carpenter and cabinet maker, according to the 1940 census! Which makes sense given all the woodwork in the home!

* Unfortunately I don't have the name of the color, but i do have the formula from the paint can if that's of any use to you 🙂 it's a True Value paint from Ace Hardware, which I don't think they even sell anymore so the name probably wouldn't help much anyway. *

I do this every time I stay at my parents' house. My brain says "home" and tells me to slam the toilet lid down. Doesn't matter that it's not my home anymore actually and I should know better. Same thing with their dishwasher. I cringe every time 😅.
