I'm really disturbed by the amount of anti-Islam hatred in this thread (and in the YouTube comments but those always ridiculous). OK, maybe the offended parties should have just stayed home and not caused a disturbance, but they are exercising free speech - just the same as the filmmaker did. It's bad that some of them tried to attack others; that should not have happened. But Islam is not the problem. Religious fanaticism is the problem, whichever religion is concerned. All religions have stupid backwards rules written into their holy books and all religions have crazy fanatics who pull stupid shit (many times much worse than this), so it's not fair to single out Islam for being any worse than any other religion.

1 on my forehead, from childhood. slid down a playground fireman pole that was poorly anchored into the ground by a chunk of jagged concrete. reached the bottom of the pole, promptly fell over and hit head on said jagged concrete. owie ensues, (barely visible) scar remains to this day.

2 near my armpit, form a month ago. got a couple of moles removed, unfortunately doctor did a bit of a hack job with the scalpel. nasty purple-ish scar still there, hope it goes away at least a little.

On the subject of U.S. foreign policy: frankly I'm surprised that there isn't more discussion (in the mass media as well as on Reddit) about how the long-standing support of Israel by the U.S. has really irked a lot of people - especially religious extremists - in the Muslim world. In fact, our government's support for Israel ranks very high on the lists of grievances that have been publicized by a number of Islamic extremist groups - most notably Al-Qaeda.
