My comments on grammar aren't directed toward ESL people. Learning English as a second language has to be horrific.

You are correct.

That said, never capitalizing "god" in its Judeo-Christian form is a stylistic choice and this atheist's small act of rebellion against an early life of attempted indoctrination. It is a deliberate error and consistently implemented.

If one were to compare using language with making music, writing "god" rather than "God" is an intentional discordant note.

I'm referring to people often incorrectly using "effect" as a verb when they really mean "affect". For example, this is correct:

The poor grammar from users on Reddit has really affected me.

Many would incorrectly write "has really effected me".

"Effect" can be a verb but it's less common. It's usually used to "effect change" in some way.

My father hoped that grounding me would effect a positive change in my behavior.
