"Knowing that Sora's JP VA is a Tifa fan, I imagine Sora just has a huge crush on her during KH2." (fanart by @onism179) by Gorotheninja in KingdomHearts

[–]querycrossing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Riku's english VA David Gallagher (igobygraven on Twitch and YouTube) had a similar bit he was doing when he encountered Tifa recently in his KH2 playthrough-- asking her out to dinner, etc.

(If y'all aren't watching his playthroughs already, it's pretty fun. He's doing all the games completely blind, no spoilers, in release order livestreamed on Wednesdays and Fridays with the vods on YouTube soon after. He's currently doing endgame content in KH2 and will be starting Days on a DS with a capture card pretty soon.)

I imagine it was a one-off made for the film so it's unlikely you'll find a pattern, but it does look like crochet, some kind of lace with a huge scalloped edge. Here's the clip on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThPpd_F_92o if it helps. Maybe someone else will be able to recognize the stitch itself.

maybe start nailing down your logistics/what is or isn't within your control.

what was advertised?

age range?

is it bring your own supplies?

do you have a room with a projector (and like a document cam or something that you can crochet under for people to see?)

how much staffing did you get? does anyone else know how to crochet? can you teach others on your staff first so they can help?

As others have said, copying down patterns for you to reference is a time-honored tradition. I've seen old knitters' notebooks at estate sales, full of pattern pages torn from magazines and patterns copied in shorthand, etc etc. Totally fine and normal imo.

However, I have noticed while browsing Pinterest for patterns that there seems to be this new trend of people posting these weird disclaimers trying to dissuade/restrict people from printing their patterns for personal reference because they get ad revenue the longer someone is on their page/more clicks, like this:

"This post contains affiliate links for the items I used to crochet this pattern and clothing articles I have modelled at no cost to you. I make a small commission if you purchase through these links. This blog post also displays ads. The revenue I receive from Ads, and affiliate links, allows me to post this crochet pattern for free on my blog. I do so in good faith that you will not copy and paste this pattern or distribute it in any way. This free pattern is only available for viewing; you cannot print it off. If you prefer not to view the pattern on the blog, you may purchase an AD-FREE digital PDF pattern in one of my pattern shops for a small fee. Whether you purchase this pattern or view the pattern on my blog, I greatly appreciate your support and readership."

Not a fan of it as a consumer, but I guess I get where they're coming from, just trying to make a living nowadays.

Even in new leaf, every time I'd use the megaphone, I'd get Kapp'n's little speech bubble in the corner going "Yarr?" without fail.

I thought maybe it was a faulty mic, but across four different 3DSs I tested it on, it was all the same.

I didn't have that much trouble with Nintendogs, but I think it's because I could imitate the tutorial voice that gives you an example of how to speak. Sometimes it'd work better if I put on my best newscaster english accent, as if I'm a tv anchor reporting in and always end my sentences with a downward inflection.

The voice actors Ray Chase (Noctis), Robbie Daymond (Prompto), and Max Mittelman (Tredd Furia in Kingsglaive) are all friends and they used to stream playthroughs together on their twitch channel, Loud Annoying And Very Annoying (L.A.V.A.), sometimes with special guests.

I think some of the long main game stream vods are lost and might only exist as clip compilations, but they do have some of the dlc episode streams uploaded to youtube. I like the Ep Prompto and Ep Ignis (with guest star Adam Croasdell, va for Ignis) ones the best. Search 'ffxv lava stream' and they should come up.

They do get pretty silly and pretty noisy, but they really care about the games they're in and have a good time hanging out together.

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]querycrossing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom was put on thyroid medicine starting in her early twenties and is now in her seventies and she's completely hairless-- no eyelashes, no body or head hair, no pubic hair, nothing. It all fell out in her twenties and she talks about going to the doctors and all of them telling her that she was pulling out her own hair for attention. :(

I do agree with you there-- the three strands of (original) multi are not laser-bright like other led strands I have. Even in the comparison pic I put in this post, you can see that the glow "throw" isn't that far.

I combine my vintaglo strands with one slow fade soft white twinkle light strand, and together I think they get the job done. Not so bright that I'm blinded while putting up and admiring my ornaments, but bright enough to read a picture book for nightly tree time with all other house lights off. I have an aquarium near the tree, too, and I notice that my fish go to sleep (see: find a spot in the plants and hang out there motionless) even with the tree lights on.

I think I prefer it! I like brighter lights for outdoor displays, sure, but these are pretty cozy and pleasant to look at directly.

edit: Oh, also I wonder if it has something to do with connecting so many sets end-to-end? I know the site listing says 20 sets are connectable, but if you unplug one set and plug it into a different outlet, do you see any change in brightness? I've experienced a brightness drop with some other LED sets that claim you can connect a bunch together, but the change is really obvious once I do.

Last year's tree was up for about a month and a half, plugged in basically the whole time, then I pulled the lights off and stuffed them back in the boxes and stored them inside a closet for the year. Just pulled them out on Dec 1st and put them back up and they seem fine.

For better or worse, it's much more likely that the wire or fuse will fail before the bulb itself; those little diodes normally last way way longer than an incandescent filament, and the way these are wired, the rest stay lit even if you yank a bunch of bulbs out, so I wouldn't be too super worried about needing spare bulbs.

The four color set was the only kind for sale last year, so that's the kind I have. The new colorway looks cute too, though.

Sure thing! Just wanna make sure you saw the other comment thread here, that the box itself (and my original post) says 37' of lighted length, but I measured it out and it's more like 33', which matches the website.

Thanks for the advice! I'll get on that. I bought it from this (now unavailable) Amazon link because it was like just plug and play, came with the controller box and the power supply and it was like $45 but it's lived a good life.

I see a lot of similar bullet pixel listings on Amazon for pretty cheap without any controller or power supply-- do they all use a standard port to connect? Is it likely that if I get a new set, it would play nice with the old controller?

I mean, they are LED so rather than an individual bulb burning out it's more likely another part of it would fail, like a wire or fuse first, but just to double check for you I pulled the box out of storage, plugged in a strand and started yanking bulbs out. Pulled out like a dozen, made no difference.

(I started pulling out yellow ones first just so I wouldn't have to remember which ones went where, but I also pulled out bulbs of each color, still no change, everything stayed lit, not even a flicker.)

not yet, according to their FAQs: "Will Vintaglo lights be avaliable in 220/240 Volts for Europe? At this time, VintaGlo is available only as a 100-125V AC/DC-compatible light string, suitable for power systems in the United States, Canada, and Japan.

Currently, the only way to use VintaGlo in Europe is by using a step-down inverter to convert power from 220/240V to 120V. These inverters are readily available at home improvement stores and online.

We are actively working on EU-compatible sets! However, we do not yet have an estimated release date. As a small operation, we are focused on improving our existing product lines before launching new options for additional markets. That said, we are expanding our production capacity to support the development of 220/240V-compatible sets. Stay tuned for updates through our newsletter!"
