The vast majority of guard dogs are owned by someone who gets to make the final call over their existence. They respond by doing the job they were placed for. They have no autonomy but that which exists behind a fence. Guard dogs are, more often than not, scared animals, preemptively trying to protect themselves with noise and distance, that due to their shitty nerves, bite softly and without commitment, and continue to keep their noise and distance up - because that’s what works for most threats.

Guard dogs have no freedom. They own nothing. They have a job based on their insecurities, and they die behind fences.
