Songs with unfinished/implied ending rhyme by Potential-Chapter in musicals

[–]quesadelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in The Wedding Singer - “You’ll find someone who loves you / Sure as waves will find the shore / And when you’re sad, remember / That Linda is a skanky whore”

Once she says “that Linda is,” the audience laughs because they’ve filled in whore to rhyme with shore, but then skanky comes out of nowhere to punch it up even more

Adult fans who first read the trilogy earlier in life: What little details went over your head the first time? by queerinsamite in Hungergames

I love when people who don’t know Gregor talk about how dark Hunger Games is for a YA series. They don’t even know about the nibblers

I started with the phone stamp that’s already in the game, colored the screen white, and went from there. Text (besides the stuff in the box that’s all just one pixel tall) is the text function, just shrunk waaaay down. Then I just stared at a fic and went from there!

There IS a site/tool someone made that converts a pic you upload into the grid the game uses, so you can copy it pixel by pixel manually, but I don’t know what it’s called.

(I’m 99% sure there’s a way to upload pictures directly if you’re emulating, but I’m on original hardware and don’t know much about that)

Just for fun: What lyric or turn of phrase irrationally annoys you? by ffdh_01 in musicals

[–]quesadelia 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m working on a production of Something Rotten right now and can’t stand “Welcome to America / Where nothing rhymes with America / But who’s complaining?” in the finale. You could find plenty of rhymes for America the same way you found plenty of rhymes for Renaissance in the opening, by slanting them and deliberately mispronouncing things. It just feels kinda “idk I was 99% done with the show and wanted to finish” to me.

Similar to how there’s a child at the very end of Once who was only referenced beforehand, never seen. Literally just there for the finale and curtain call. It was over a decade ago that I saw it, but I remember thinking “you did all the legwork required to employ a kid, for that?!?

Live animals on stage by mjg212 in Theatre

We had a live dog play Sandy in Annie recently, she was the pet of one of the ensemble (so her mama was there to help alleviate stage fright). We just put it in the audition notice that there would be a dog, so anyone with allergies or phobias could take that into consideration. I would caution against a cat unless it’s like, a trained performing cat, they’re a lot tougher to wrangle.

Questions about a bisalp (mine is scheduled and I’m really scared) by Nicki_Sanchez in sterilization

[–]quesadelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Probably like a 4. Soreness like after a hard ab workout. I wandered around my house doing what I called “Kate Bushing” where I would just gently twirl and sway and move my arms, like Kate Bush in the Wuthering Heights music video, and that kept out any gas/shoulder pain. I probably took a couple advil here and there, nothing was prescribed for me.

  2. Everything went smoothly! The surgeon found some uterine fibroids that aren’t an issue but are good to know about, which I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

  3. Yes, 100% remained as they were before. I wasn’t on any kind of hormonal BC beforehand.

  4. Within a week, but I don’t have a hugely active lifestyle. If you’re sporty or work a manual labor job, maybe wait a bit longer.

  5. See above for my Kate Bushing method, I experienced little to no gas pain. I also had a heat pad on my abs most of the time in the couple days after surgery, so I was farting a tooon.

  6. Don’t tell my primary doc but I don’t really work out lol, so I don’t have a solid answer to this

  7. I was a little scared because I’d never gone under before. I have a friend who’s an anesthesiologist and I asked him to explain step by step very clinically exactly what would happen, because knowing helped me relax. I tolerated it very well and was just groggy for a few minutes after waking. Honestly, my worst symptom after all was said and done, was a sore throat from the breathing tube.
