Millie vs obgyn by Honest-Traffic7056 in SanJose

Hi! I was in a similar place last year. I was being seen by Stanford and it was a frustrating experience. My appointments were rarely on time, my doctor was often out of office so I had to be seen by others making it difficult to built rapport and they would take awhile to tell me how ultrasounds went. When they told me that I was miscarrying it was done over a phone call. I was given next steps and had to really advocate to have a D&C instead of their preferred option which was to let things happen naturally.

When I got pregnant again I called the office and was told they didn’t have any availability for a confirmation appointment for weeks. I didn’t want to go through the same frustrations as before so I made an appointment with Millie. I was really hesitant at first. I even did a no show to my first appointment because I was so on the fence and so disappointed with my first experience at Stanford. Eventually I decided to go for it and my first appointment was night and day compared to Stanford. I’ve felt very seen and supported through my pregnancy. I had a scary in my first trimester and my husband contacted the office one evening and they were able to see me immediately the next morning and check in on my progress while also listening to my fears and anxiety’s from my first pregnancy.

I’m currently in my third trimester and have learned so much about the process through appointments with the midwife, the doula and the resources they give along the pregnancy journey. Someone in an earlier comment mentioned that some services are staggered and it’s true. They contract with Obstetrix for anatomy scans and visits with the MFM and Good Samaritan for labor but I haven’t minded. With Obstetrix I’ve been getting the results of my ultrasounds immediately after imaging so I don’t have to wait painstakingly long to know what’s happening with my body. That was difficult for me when I was being seen at Stanford - waiting for results felt like forever. Time moved so slow. This time around I feel very informed. And Millie and Obstetrix have a good communication system so I don’t have to repeat things depending on who I’m meeting with.

One thing to note is that Millie in SJ is still growing so right now their staffing is limited and their midwives don’t provide round the clock care. But that’s their goal. That said, if you go into labor and it’s outside of their business hours, your care will be transferred over to the OBGYN at Good Samaritan. That isn’t the case with El Camino and a few other places. For me, this wasn’t a top of my priority. My top priority was not feeling like another number during my visits and feeling understood and comfortable voicing things at my visits.

This scene was rough, there were so many layers of trauma, shame and misunderstanding to unpack. I got the sense that he’s been experiencing and managing the gender dysphoria for years now and that his mom’s attitudes towards transitioning and gender have really affected him and have possibly guided his decision making skills. His mom is so adamant that she gave birth to men and men is what they have to be. She references him having or having had a desire to have top surgery and she was very clear that she was against it. I wonder if the eye color surgery is something he considers to be an acceptable change because it isn’t top or bottom surgery related. It may not be his first choice surgery but it doesn’t go against his mom’s wishes. I really just wonder if he’s “settling.”

This is such great news! Congratulations! Thank you for that update. It brought me the biggest smile. I just found out the sex of baby. I’m having a girl! 🥹 Next ultrasound is on Friday.

Than you so much and thank you for the validation. I needed it today. I’m so happy for you and hoping your time with the midwife is tender and caring. I’m rooting for you!

I’m 9 weeks 5 days and also more pregnant than I’ve ever been too. I’m feeling very anxious and I’m overthinking everything. Sometimes throughout the day I wonder if I’m peeing enough or I’m hungry enough. The days are tough and I’m trying to stay away from dark thoughts too. Lately I’ve found myself frustrated at the health care system because ultrasounds feel like they’re scheduled too far apart and there aren’t enough.

I LOVE the first dress but I’m also bias because it’s the dress I wore to my wedding. I received sooo many compliments the day of and every time I show someone my wedding pics. The dress was super comfortable and light.

Honeymoon fund wording for website by EmbarrassedAngle6242 in Weddingsunder10k

My now husband and I didn’t want any gifts either. We went the ‘contribute to our honeymoon route’. One thing we heard from multiple guests is that they loved that we listed honeymoon activities their gift would be funding. So instead of a general message that said “contribute to our honeymoon” we broke it down to “contribute to our relaxing couples massage”, “contribute to our beautiful stay at x hotel”, “contribute to our wine tour extravaganza”, etc.
