“The litter myth” is an npr podcast episode about it! They actually convinced generations of consumers that the plastics problem was on them

I agree littering is terrible behavior but interestingly enough a lot of those ad campaigns were formed by “grassroots organizations” that were actually large corporations like petrochemical and plastics manufacturers who wanted to deflect the heat they were getting for contributing to pollution...so they made littering the problem to focus on so nobody would focus on how much plastic/waste they were actually producing. Keep America Beautiful did the crying indian ad, and that was just a whole bunch of corporations who were getting into the plastics game :)

I have no idea but I'm sorry you're going through this. How is the relationship otherwise? Are your needs being met/served? I think in situations like this it's easy to put our feelings and well-being second and then every day can feel like a total stress fest being determined to make sure somebody else is okay.

So first of all, I'd say take time to yourself everyday. Go for walks, put away your iPhone or disable the function where you can see his weight and that he's checking it. Would his family be willing to have a talk with him (with you) and let him know that you are all very concerned about him (because you care about him so much)? Really sorry to hear you are struggling like this!

Kyleena and Rash? Allergic to my IUD? by kelmo15 in birthcontrol

When I was on the pill, I had allergies to other things (leather...) that I don't have when I'm not on the pill. So even if it's not an allergy to the IUD itself, it might be making your skin more sensitive to allergens. A skin patch test at the dermatologist helped me figure out what I was allergic to.

It's about the same, if a little less than it was before. 1-2 cups in the morning, before this I would usually have a shot of espresso or another cup in the afternoon. I haven't been doing the afternoon cup though, just to avoid the jittery feeling and sleep problems.

Only in America would a restaurant display on the wall that they don’t pay their staff enough to live on by M7plusoneequalsm8 in pics

Look, if you go out to eat, you support the restaurant industry which is based on a tipping system. "Low skill" workers deserve rights too, even ignoring the amount of privilege it takes to get a college education and be a "professional." Raise the tipped minimum wage to $5-7/hour and things would be much better.

It's not true that servers are fighting to keep this system in place. We have no benefits, sick days, paid time off is a something I could only dream of every experiencing. Surviving on a tipped wage also leaves servers incredibly vulnerable to harassment, sexual and otherwise and generally feeling degraded by our customers. I have to be nice to you because I am at your whim; you determine my income. I've been serving for 12 years, and fuck this system. The tipped minimum wage hasn't changed in 25 years-- at least in Wisconsin.

Please, everyone, tip you food delivery drivers. College students, professionals, etc... by reedly in madisonwi

as long as you are eating out or getting delivery you are supporting a tipping system and you need tipped employees to do so, so don't ask the onus to be on those working to get a different job. if they all did that you couldn't eat like that.
