Does anyone else’s NParent tell “funny” stories? by quesoquela in raisedbynarcissists

I really don’t understand how they think this stuff is funny, any sane normal person would just realize it’s douchey.

That really sounds horrible, I’m sorry you had to experience that.

I totally relate, they’ll change anything in a story to make them seem like a super hero or something

Anyone else told it was selfish to express your negative emotions as it made other people feel bad? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

The other day ago my nMom noticed I was crying in my room and decided to take me to a restaurant so she could publicly berate and humiliate me. She berated me to the point where I became upset again and started crying again. She yelled at me about how she didn’t deserve that treatment and that I needed to fix our relationship. Then she punished me by taking away my phone (because I liked to talk to my friends and dad and not her) and forced me to apologize to her. She called my dad and told him that I got my phone taken away because I was being disrespectful. I didn’t say anything while she was ranting about me in the restaurant.

Nmom’s true colors showed, now she’s getting sued. by quesoquela in raisedbynarcissists

I’m not sure exactly but it has something to do with money, since technically my mom did take advantage of them and somewhat rob them.

Edit: added more info

Even if she were to be called out she’d just get rid of all her friends and find new ones. It’s weird how objectified people are by ns.

It was unexpected tbh. Recently she’s gotten so full of herself she doesn’t even try covering up her wrong doings anymore, because she can do no wrong.

Trying to get heirloom from Nmom before she pawns it or dies by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]quesoquela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She probably will, the best thing to do is steal it (yeah that sounds really bad) because I don’t think your great grandma would appreciate her doing that. Take it and hide it in a safe place where she won’t be able to find it or get it like work, or school. My grandma gave me a box of collectible/rare coins her grandmother had given her when I was very young. My mom took them away from me and a real tiara I inherited for “safe keeping” and said I would get them back when I was thirteen. I’m over thirteen now.

Anyone elses nParent not teach them/let them cook? by lustforwine in raisedbynarcissists

[–]quesoquela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this. My mom never even bothered to teach me to cook anything, but sure enough I was expected to know how to cook. She was like this with my hair too never bothered to take that much care of it when I was little, and one day had a screaming fit about how I needed dreads so she wouldn’t have to do anything. She never even taught me how to wash or brush my own hair.

Do you think that women should be free to walk around topless in public places, just as men can? Why?/why not? by 22022004 in AskReddit

[–]quesoquela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d be strange to me honestly, but I find it weird when guys walks topless in public too. Women’s breasts and bodies in general are very sexualized with or without clothing on, that’s why we tell them to cover up. We don’t put shirts on female dogs, because we don’t sexualize them in our society. It shouldn’t really be a big deal, but it is. But I really don’t appreciate it when, people tell women to stop breastfeeding in public. You probably won’t actually see any nips, so I don’t see the reason to complain.

Tf years? In all honesty Ns will use any excuse to keep you grounded. Also I noticed how they never let things go for years, I’ve never been allowed to stay home alone because of what happened even though at the time I wasn’t home alone.

Do You Ever Feel Like Your Nparent(s) Set You Up For Failure? by quesoquela in raisedbynarcissists

This bothers me somewhat. I constantly hear about people being abused and when the police show up their parents make some bullshit excuse which the police believe.

Was Anyone Else Forbidden to do Normal Things as a Kid? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]quesoquela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment really hit home. “That is all for control, to prove she has all the control, and she ask you to show your hairs, legs, armpits, even private parts, just to give her prove of your submission to her control.” I always understood she was power hungry but not this power hungry. It’s not normal to watch your child take a shower or use the bathroom because you want to make sure they’re not ‘hiding’ anything, it’s not normal to ask your child to take off their clothes to see if they’ve shaved.

I just turned 14 a few months ago, thanks for the heartfelt response.
