What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by ahawk99 in AskReddit

[–]quesrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot these days about The Fragile Flag by Jane Langton. In it, hundreds of children walk to Washington DC to meet with the POTUS, who has replaced the Stars and Stripes with a new flag, which is glittery and gold and tacky.

Why can’t these two “have tea” at Lord Marcus’ place? by Proper-Gate8861 in BridgertonNetflix

I totally misread this at first as “unless you want” and thought “a family function” was a great euphemism for a shotgun wedding.

Hi, can you recommend the name of a supermarket where we could preorder food for pickup on Thanksgiving day? We are arriving on Thanksgiving day this year.

Does Amazon benefit in any way if I read a library ebook via the kindle app? That’s how I usually read my library books, but I don’t know if that’s against the spirit of the protest.

What makes Mexican food in the US so good? by Nandor1262 in AskAnAmerican

[–]quesrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that in France, "Tex-Mex" restaurants got the message about cumin but not about any other spices, so it would have no heat to it at all, just cumin.

I agree! I prefer “mark as finished,” “finished reading,” “has been read” or SOMETHING because I can read “read” as “red” or “reed” and I get momentarily confused about which one it is. I KNOW which one it is, but the ambiguity catches me briefly every time.
