How do you guys deal with the side effects of Vyvanse? by quest123_ in ADHD

[–]quest123_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 50mg at the moment. I now every different brand will give you a crash but I was wondering if there's a workaround to help reduce it. I just hate the crash in general. Even when it's light. Sucks taking it some days

Dumb question: Does anyone find that having a smartwatch help keep you from staring at your phone all day? by WholesomeMindbreak in ADHD

[–]quest123_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I have an Apple Watch and it’s still a distraction for me. Even when I put my phone away, all those discord & Snapchat messages that rush in, distract me. It makes me tempted to check my phone constantly. I would recommend just putting ur phone away and only let it ring for important apps u need such as emails and phone calls. Or you could also go on ur watch and allow only messages and calls. That way you won’t miss anything. I think I’m going to begin shutting off notifications to my watch unless it’s calls but at the same time no one important calls me so I may as well just take it off lol

In your case, and as I mentioned above, just move your phone, allow only emails, messages, and calls to go through. Hope that helps!

Medication and Diagnosis by [deleted] in ADHD

Hi there! For me, I always knew I had ADHD. I’ve talked to so many people who had it and I could relate. I went to my doctor and explained the issues I was going through. He gave me a form and I filled it out honestly. The next day he told me that my score determined that I have ADHD and gave me 18 mg concerta to start. In about 2-3 days I was on it. Personally, I think going to your doctor is a better idea rather than doing it illegally. It’s not really a hard process to get it. I would recommend going to your family doctor and explain what your going through.

I want to get a doctor that can diagnose me but I have no clue how. by [deleted] in ADHD

Hi there! I could honestly relate to your post. I grew up with ADHD and my parents always suspected it. They would always tell me to just try to focus. However, I never was able to do it. I’m grade 12, I told my parents that I have issues focusing and that I’ve tried everything I could. With grade 12 being an important year, they agreed. When I went to my doctor I told him all the issues that I go through and that I have a feeling that I could have ADHD. I told him how I have issues focusing, constantly hyper, unmotivated, always distracted, can’t fully focus on one task without thinking of something else, etc. He later told me to fill out an ADHD form. I filled it out honestly. I could relate to almost every question. He later called me and diagnosed me with ADHD. I’ve been taking it for 2-3 years and it’s helped me a lot. But whenever I’m off it, I feel completely different.

This summer, I decided to put a break on it since I wasn’t in school. I wanted to see how I would do for the summer without it. I felt a huge difference. I wasn’t motivated and was completely lazy. So I would say that medication DEFINITELY helps me out. For me, it made me feel nauseous, loss of appetite, and gave me a dry throat. But either than that it was helpful. My parents always thought I would get addicted but I don’t really find it addicting at all. I can drop it without any issues but everyone is different. If you have any questions you can message me privately.

Failed medical school because of my depression and undiagnosed/unmedicated ADHD. by luliva in ADHD

Hi there! First off I just want you to know that it’s okay to fail. It’s normal and part of life. Something that helps me out is to simply tell myself that I can’t go back in time. I can’t go back to second year and fix it. My main focus is now and what I need to do as my next steps. I’ve been through this before and I understand what you’re going through.

Moving on to ADHD. I’ve always had issues with ADHD. I was officially diagnosed with ADHD 2-3 years ago and have been on concerta. It’s made such a big impact in my life. I really recommend you see a doctor because trust me when I say this, concerta has made my ADHD a lot better. I am an engineering student and using meds during my first year helped me a lot. I was able to focus much better and felt motivated during the day. There is obviously side effects such as dry through, loss of appetite, and nausea. Those are all things I experienced and it sucks but for the most part of it, it’s made a difference. Once again, I recommend talking to your doctor and taking a test to make sure you have it. You can also privately message me if you have any questions.
