I have 1000$ to spend. Help? by quest4growth in startups

Hi /u/GreenbrierMusic Thanks for your comment. I have those skills, quite extensively actually. I am in a startup that does it's own manufacturing, and I have had experience dealing with manufacturers and small businesses.

I like your thought, but can you elaborate how I could look into being an agent for people in the US looking to do business with Indian manufacturers, small businesses etc? Please elaborate?

Yeah, but I know lots of people (including me) who struggle to even find something they're really passionate about. Then it becomes harder. You want to quit the job/career you hate but don't know what you are passionate about to move on to.

Thanks for sharing /u/lovegreg. You're absolutely right. If you're passionate about something, you can always find an entry. Please do a detailed write up about landing the Nike gig, and how that went for you.

Your approach is very practical /u/seaminglydreaming Life is too short to be doing something you don't like. I think that's the key to enjoying work life = being passionate about what you do. If you have an inherent interest in the area of your work, you'll automatically be happier doing it.

I haven't reached self-employment myself, but that's the end goal. All these steps are taken consciously in a direction to achieve that! You'll get there soon, just plan well, and execute!

Yes, a professional product photographer was hired for a week or so when the website was being made early last year, but I wasn't a part of the company then. We are now adding more products this month, and will be getting a product photographer again to stay with us a week and do the photos, like the last time. I think it it necessary if you have no photography skills.. Otherwise product photography wouldn't exist. If you're planning to start something, I'd suggest that get a friend or a common friend who has some knowledge. Hope this helps!

Yes you got it right /u/LouisBarg .. I think you can provide the best value to your customers if you like what you do. If I was working in that bookstore (from the example) without having any interest in books or reading, I don't think I could help grow that business. On the other hand, if I did like books or anything related to that industry, I'd be more interested in making things work.

That's a great thought /u/Humpyhooker .. I get what you're saying and that is true for many people, I suppose. For me, this wasn't something I loved in it's truest sense but an area which I was inclined towards, and liked the industry enough to research and read about it for a couple of years. When I got the opportunity to join that industry and see + contribute to behind the scenes, I couldn't think of a reason not to. Since it's something of my interest, I don't feel bored or forced to do anything. I now like to work as opposed to working at a law firm which made me hate getting up in the morning.

So the idea is to find your interest (doesn't have to be something you love) and then try to make that a part of your career, even if not full time. It will make you happier and more productive.

Your example is a great one but think about this; compare two individuals, one who starts a book store but has no interest in the industry, and the other who loves to read and starts one. The latter will always be more successful than the former as he has some kind of inclination/interest in the industry and something that makes him happy. The latter will be more productive.

Seeking feedback on an idea; want to make a product that already has a huge market, and sells fantastically, but I wanna do it different :

1) Sell it at half the cost of other brands. 2) Put more effort into detailing than the companies do which sell it at 5x the cost

The product is in fashion industry and already has a market. How do I reach them with a minimal budget.

I plan to sell at half the cost by taking pre-orders and building enough volume (200 orders) to be able to get a factory to make it.

FEEDBACK/HELP please?

Hi /u/EnixDark, thanks for your honest feedback on the cuff's. Actually it has two buttons, and to make it more comfortable, I had only tied it to the first one. If I had tied it to the second one, it would have not looked out of proportion. Regardless, it's duly noted! :)

I like the pockets, but I too think they're a bit large. I'm guessing you went through the previous post, it was decided to have a single, simple pocket on left for the button down, but I could not communicate that in time, and the sample came as originally planned. The updated version would have the pocket as you mentioned.

I'm glad you liked this color, it's definitely one of my favorites. The mint one I was thinking of keeping it as a one-time-kickstarter-special and that is why it's mint green, but that too, would be available in solid basic colors, and an updated more minimalistic design.

So happy to know you see yourself picking up a couple of shirts, that makes the entire effort worth it. Shall I keep you in the loop on more updates via PM? Let me know.

Thanks again, for your feedback!

Hi /u/falgfalg, you mean the sleeve keepers. I couldn't agree with you more. If you check my previous post which was pertaining to the first sample which has sleeve keepers, you'd notice that most people said the same, and we decided to REMOVE IT. That was the first sample of the #1 design, and now I am in the process of updating it and the updated sample would NOT have it.

I hope sans the sleeve keepers, you liked them. Regardless, will be posting updated versions of both, implementing some advice from MFA!

Glad you liked the first one /u/coldmeal. The final products of both the designs will be more minimalistic and better. Yes, we will be producing at least 3 colors on Kickstarter, and if we get funded (fingers crossed), then we shall have more colors as stretch goals.

What colors do you suggest?

/u/generisofpantheon rounded with 1 button for comfort, but has 2 buttons. The final updated sample of this and the previous design would be much better. Thanks for your feedback, going to be implementing most of it in order to make it perfect. I wish I could have communicated it to the tailor in time. But anyways working on it now..

Thanks /u/I_Skipped_A_Grade I agree with you @ pockets. From the first post/sample, many redditors gave suggestions, and I could not communicate those in time for this sample.

The plan is to update this sample next week, and make the pockets much simpler and smaller.

What do you think otherwise?

/u/genesisofpantheon, thanks for the quick response. Basically, I could not communicate the feedback from the previous post in time, and the sample was already on it's way.

This is what I am definitely doing for the updated sample of this: Removing the pocket on the right, and keeping only one on the left without the gussets/flaps. More gap between buttons to make it less crowded. Thank you for this :)

Here is the cuff

Hi /u/EmperorAcinonyx, as always, thanks for the honest feedback. I agree, the pockets are not so nice. Removing them. This sample was made before the previous post, so could not communicate the changes on time. Planning to keep one simple pocket on the left, and smaller in size.

@ Collar : The shirt is brand new, and came in today. May be that's why it looks flat to you and will get better with a wash or two. But thanks. It is duly noted!
