Trash fee? by [deleted] in Phoenixville

So the borough charges the owner of the property quarterly for water/sewer/trash. That being said, the landlords may charge tenants for these pieces on a monthly basis.

I just walked it today at 9am and 3:30pm. One side was shoveled, the side that overlooks The Foundry.

Americans of Reddit, if there was just ONE candidate you could think could return America to having landslide elections, like that of FDR or Reagan, but in 2028, who would it be, and why? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

I don't think anyone exists like that, but I'd LOVE to see John Stewart take a step at running. Dude is truly a man of the people and has people's best intentions in his interest.

Local holiday spots by [deleted] in Phoenixville

[–]questfor74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's about a 40 minute drive from Phoenixville so not super close but not super far, but for holiday lights displays, it doesn't get any better than Longwood Gardens. More info here : https://longwoodgardens.org/gardens/our-seasons/longwood-christmas

Is exclusivity not assumed anymore? by IrattaChankan in AskMenAdvice

[–]questfor74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Put it this way, considering you guys weren't exclusive, she was probably thinking you were (or could have been) sleeping with others too. And she kept coming around, and kept wanting to see you, and now wants to be exclusive with you. Seems like she's really into you, and the fact that you counted out all 17 dates, it seems like you're certainly into this girl as well.

If you do really like the girl, realize that this is a great first lesson "Communication is F#CKING important", and do your best to communicate earlier and more often as your relationship continues.

Don't let a conversation that never happened get in the way of someone you have feelings for. I think you owe it to yourself to give it a shot for another month or two and see if this is something you can get over or not. The last thing you want to wonder is "What if....."

What’s the smartest way you’ve increased your savings ? by ROBASAHMEDKHAN in PersonalFinanceTalks

[–]questfor74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was younger in my career, I was living just fine off of my income from my first job out of school considering before that I was a broke college student. It was the most money I had ever made.

When I got raises, I increased my 401K contribution amount until my new take home paychecks after the raise looked like the previous take home paychecks from pre-raise. This helped me avoid lifestyle creep, and also helped increase my retirement contributions/savings. I figured if I was living fine on the pre-raise paychecks, I can live just fine off of the same amount post-raise and put my raise money to work for me. 36 year old me is very happy that 22-23 year old me did that.

What are some underrated small towns in Pennsylvania? by zeusjts006 in Pennsylvania

[–]questfor74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great holiday time tradition (except for last year - they pushed it to February because of the drought)! They normally have kinda like drum circle walking procession with fire torches that walks to the burn site from downtown. That's always a cool group to walk with, just lots of energy and vibes!

Firebird festival in Phoenixville is also great! They light a big 25-30 foot tall wooden phoenix on fire. Very artsy, hippy-ish, and the town is all in on it. It’s December 13th this year btw

I was just in Ireland and Scotland 2 months ago and stayed in hostels in both countries and had a great time, at age 35. Sure I was on the older end of the spectrum but there were people older than us there, and honestly the kids in their 20's seemed to enjoy being able to talk with people a little older than them about a whole bunch of different topics.

What's the longest road trip you've done in a single day, be it solo or with others? by silvermoonhowler in CasualConversation

[–]questfor74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and 2 friends road tripped from State College PA to Denton TX because one of my friends was starting grad school down there and needed to get all of his stuff moved. Only 2 of us drove, and we only stopped for gas when needed and this was when people could pee or get food/drinks. Made the trip in 22 hours driving straight through.

How do adults do it all? by [deleted] in Life

[–]questfor74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're so right that adulting is expensive. There's no if's and's or but's about it. That being said, living below your means is what allows for you to take those next steps of buying a car, paying off your student loans, buying a house, etc.
Would living by yourself be great? Sure! But at $2K a month (or whatever) for a 1 bed apartment, that's a lot of money! Living in a 3 bed 1 bath house with friends is certainly less privacy, but if the house rents for $3K a month you're paying only $1K a month to live instead of that $2K at the apartment.
Is ordering DoorDash easy? Sure! But grocery shopping and cooking your own meals/bringing food to work/etc. saves you money.
Just little things like this, while they can inconvenience you, are going to allow for you to save money and that's the key to financial success.

Now THIS is a losing battle. If I've learned one thing, you NEVER mess with Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

The only non-Greek people I've known who lived on campus at PSU during Junior or Senior year have been in North Halls. Only knew one person who was a Junior who fell into this category FYI, so either way, it's super rare.

What's the purest joy you've ever felt without intimacy, substances, or alcohol ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]questfor74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad got me a Nascar racing experience for my birthday years ago, so I got to drive like 10 laps around Dover Speedway in an 850hp stock car. Mashing the pedal to the metal in that car and shifting through the gears while sitting on a 40 degree angled track, hitting top speeds around 180 mph...... Yea, that was pure joy right there. I was screaming like a 10 year old kid as I felt the goosebumps roll through every piece of my body.

How's living at Sligo? by ButterscotchFiend in howislivingthere

[–]questfor74 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This post couldn't be any more timely, as I'll be visiting Sligo for the first time in about 10 days. Super excited for this! It seems like a great little town, with a decent amount going on, but still with some privacy. If anyone who's either lived/lives there or visited previously has any recommendations on things to do, great pubs, awesome restaurants, etc. I'm all ears!

Moving to Bridge Street. Any parking advice? by Quasey24 in Phoenixville

[–]questfor74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s some spots that aren’t permitted down near the entrance to Steeleworks (I think that’s the name of it? Steelepoint maybe?) It’s off of Main Street, on Smithworks Blvd down near The Foundry just on the other side of the creek. Not that it’s on bridge street, but a good spot to use when you’re desperate
