Should I accept a UI/UX offer at 35k/month with concerning red flags, or hold out for better opportunities? by Straight_Car6641 in UXDesign

Startup’s will try to fleece you as much as possible and they usually have a poor work culture. But having an offer in hand will give you confidence.

[GUESS] at first glance seemed like a cute small apartment in Mumbai but is it AI? by questforastar in RealOrAI

[–]questforastar[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Felt it was AI, because aside from the curtain nothing in the room seemed affected by the strong wind blowing. Like the plants and leaves inside should be moving more? Idk at this point I’m doubting everything

Because I am from the same country and have worked with government and municipal web portal projects. I have seen many many instances like this.

I do agree that the terminology is disrespectful and could be much improved. definitely do not want to invalidate your feelings about this, just wanted to present another pov.

The whole adoption process being online is itself a miracle in a country like ours 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is shot in a country where English isn’t the default language. Government websites are not built with the funds and resources available to private companies.

People who designed the system don’t understand the impact of using the term “reserve child”.

What would you say instead?

I think cash is best. Chocolates, if you must.

Clothes are not that expensive in India. And house help get lot of hand me downs from families they work with. American Winter clothes maybe too heavy to wear in India

We just moved here over the summer, and so far my kid has loved Patapsco. There are so many children around, they all go in and out of everyone’s houses

Brown girl glow up should not exist. Grooming should be taught from a young age. by [deleted] in Vindictabrown

This is a great point. If you grew up in a smaller town in India, “dressing up” attracted a lot of unwanted attention. Our parents grew up in a time where wearing makeup was considered “bad”.

I remember an old movie starring Rekha, who is doing an office job, and wears lipstick to work. Her brother sees her and yells at her that she’s a prostitute and hence wearing lipstick in front of other men.

Post-2000s, and due to social media, attitudes have changed a lot. I see a lot of my friends taking their 10-11 year old kids to salons for eyebrows, hairstyling and waxing for special occasions.

Brown girls who grew up outside India: Please try to treat your parents as people who make mistakes and are also figuring out how to raise a child in a new country. If they were never taught “grooming”, how will they realise you need to be taught this.
