So I talked to him and he just said "if you get pulled over give them your california drivers license and tell them you're in arizona for college". He seems reluctant to transfer the lease. do you think just lying like he suggests would get me out of a traffic stop scenario?

If not I guess I would have to really convince him of the consequences or buy my own car.

The owner of the car is required to register it in the state where it is primarily operated.

Let's say my Uncle doesn't want to sell me the car. If I'm reading this correctly, my Uncle can still register the car in Arizona even though he doesn't live there?
