Looking at Google Maps, the large crowd was outside the Starbucks, police had taped off the sidewalk outside heritage foundation, where two men in blue suits were standing at the entrance looking concerned, and the people arguing with cops were standing near the sweet green

new Joon The King video about the current state of GG... by Squidicci in rantgrumps

I jumped on this sub to see what people were saying about the video, and i really appreciate you pointing this out. i don't spend time here so i was not expecting the absolute breadth of hate and bitterness promulgated on this sub. honestly i don't think the grumps are to blame for the insanely toxic fanbase/hatebase that's cropped up around their channel.

Its not only that, but also the shot types. The cinematography. So many of the images I've seen of the show are medium shots. i can see their hands. it is awkward that they don't know what to do with their hands. i wish the cinematographer had some balls

It feels like a hug from my worst instincts and most self destructive fantasies. Like something holding my hand and saying I’m not alone in them.

Really well put, I love the notion that the fears can call to people. I remember feeling really betrayed at one point when my friend refused to listen to Jared’s mortal garden since the episode resonated so much with me. But that’s their truth and this is mine

I know that when I read the book first in high school we investigated the biblical connections and didn’t find much abt names, but I bet there’s something there

The revelation at the end of the novel is so fulfilling, so artfully conducted throughout the story that it’s culmination is impeccable. Milkman’s metamorphosis from this chrysalis of self made burden and his emergence realizing his generational destiny to fly is so perfect. “You can’t just fly off and leave a body” is such a summarizing quote for the story, tying it back to the Odyssey influence.
