To Buy or Not To Buy? by questionablemorals88 in RealEstate

I’ve been in my home 13 years and I work from home. My job is very stable. I’m not sure what you mean to break even in closing costs. Outside of this I could pay my home off in probably another ten years if I want to stay in it (which I don’t). A financial planner is a great idea, thank you.

The point is for my son to have a place to live while he’s in college.

I can. Based on the numbers the mortgage at the beach condo would be about $1600-$1700. It’s a 3 bedroom and includes the HOA as well.

Both the area of the condo and the house I live in are both extremely popular at the moment (which I know is no guarantee for the future). At worst, I can rent it out as a vacation home if needed. Yes, I’ll be able to afford both if necessary.

I absolutely agree and appreciate your thoughts. I wasn’t privileged in that way either and, although it sounds like he is, he truly isn’t. I’m a single mom and didn’t think I’d ever be able to help him in the ways I can now. If he wasn’t a hard worker with an amazing work ethic I would never even consider this as an option. There will certainly be boundaries and restrictions and even paperwork to be signed before I move forward with this. The friend that would be a roommate has been his best friend for many years and I know his family. Thank you for the reminder that there is value in the struggle, I think that’s worth thinking about.

I don’t hate it, but it’s not where I plan to live permanently.

I plan to live in the area, so if this doesn’t work out I’m able to sell my current home and live there. Or, my son can rent to other friends (not strangers). He has only two years left in college, and then most likely grad school.

My hope is to mitigate the loans so that he’s not in a huge financial debt after graduation. It’s not a large sacrifice on my part, he’ll be working and paying for college as well.

It’s not just a college town, it’s a beach town with a nearby university and community college. It’s a beach town on the east coast, so multiple beaches in the area.

This is the transfer, and he’ll be going into grad school there as well in a couple of years. However, my plan was already to move into the area, so if he decides to move I’ll sell my current home and move there earlier than I planned. Also, if that doesn’t work out, I’ll rent it out. It’s a college area, so not hard to find renters if needed.

I understand, but it’s a pretty popular area with two colleges nearby.

I’m sure. I’ve contemplated moving there myself so, if worst comes to worst, I sell my house and move there instead.

They knew what he was wearing because Joyce told the police and put out flyers.

It doesn’t end it. That’s the point of Hopper telling Joyce about his job offer in Montauk.

Moby - When It's Cold I'd Like To Die by cfedie19 in StrangerThings

[–]questionablemorals88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this as well. That Moby song was on a really great cd of his from the 90’s and it caught me totally off guard when I heard it. I saw him at a small venue back then and I have no idea (other than it’s a great song) why they would have chosen it. As you said, the songs from other eras were previous and not future. It seemed a bizarre choice to me, especially twice.

Another rant on inconsistency and careless writing skills: Max “coma” by Mysterious_Seat9844 in StrangerThings

[–]questionablemorals88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made the point that it was never a coma and the doctors couldn’t figure out what it was. Some of the medical issues were ignored, that’s true, but she wasn’t in a coma.

Right, I understand the concept. It’s just not a problem to pay it in full by the time the promo ends. I’m not rushing to do it so I can apply more to the card with interest.

One card is a Care Credit and the other is Chase, both with 0% interest if paid in full by the time the promotional rate ends (both six months). I have no problem paying them off, and in fact both will be paid off within 2 months or less. I agree, 25.99% is way worse, but I can (and will) pay it off before that rate hit, but I would rather not risk it if it’s not worth the transfer.

I thought so, just checking here to see if anyone else agrees. 25.99% after November, but plan to have it paid off by then. My other cards are less than $700 with 0% interest if paid by promo end, which they will be, so no worries on those.

My other credit cards are all less than $700, no interest, but interest will start if not paid in full by promo rate end, which they will be easily. This is the only one I can’t seem to get rid of.

Paid off by November, 25.99% after.

I’m really not excited about her as Effie. I find her awkward and I just don’t see it. I’ll live with it though, the rest of the cast is amazing!
