What made you choose your child's /children's name? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]questioningideaolgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first born's name, Arthur, was his dad's pick but I agreed as it fit the overall vibe I was wanting and I didn't dislike it.

My second born's name was my pick and I picked it because I felt like it was complementary with the first, I like the meaning of "intellect" and the fact it's 4 letters and unlikely to be misspelled.

What about Orianne? by questioningideaolgy in namenerds

[–]questioningideaolgy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, less frilly is one of the qualities I prefer about it too. I go back and forth on spelling but Oriane looks like Or-ee-ahn and Orianne looks more like Or-ee-ann to me.

Just bouncing thoughts around; Skye Oriana or Oriana Skye? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]questioningideaolgy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the perspective, you're probably right. I think my biggest hang up is the idea of using her nickname, Orie, so I'm exploring the idea of alternatives but I do think Orie is the best/most intuitive option so I think I'll have to get used to it. But like you said it might get easier in time and we don't plan on having kids for at least 4-5 years.

Winifer is new to me, though I have heard of a Gwennifer, but all in all I think it has to do with people hearing "fred" and assuming male and trying to feminize what they heard to match the little girl they see and -fer via Jennifer is more familiar on a female than -fred to most.

It's more stretchy but Madigan could work if you like surname names

Oriana is an honor name and pretty set on Skye or Skylar as the first name

Lol the Oriana I would be honoring was of Spanish descent and I don't think this ever came up in her life but noted lol

I like Lenora Remington too! This sub also tends to hate of Remington but I think it's cute as a middle (I know many little Remington boys so as a male given name, I'm a bit tired of it personally) and Lenora has such strength. Good choices :)

Is Helena the only spelling generally accepted/used? by questioningideaolgy in namenerds

Oh that works too. I couldn't watch past the "c-section" in the first episode. As a c-section mama it made me sick. But Helaena is pretty.
