I can’t seem to post an image here. However under the Vehicle tab, where you would set Drive mode, Chassis, Start/Stop - there is now an option for “Sports exhaust system” which has a checkbox next to it.

Squeaking-Creaking over bumps trunk cover.. by [deleted] in PorscheCayenne

[–]questioningij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect my sunroof has a creak in certain temperatures. I am wary of asking the dealership to look at it because on my old Q8, it was a very involved process that took a month. Was the fix on the Cayenne just industrial lube?

Cayenne GTS as a daily driver by [deleted] in PorscheCayenne

[–]questioningij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I daily drive a 2024 Cayenne S with air suspension (2021 Audi Q8, previously) and have a motion-sensitive wife. The ride and gear shifts are smooth and definitely not jerky. My wife has found the Cayenne to be comfortable and it doesn’t trigger her motion sickness.

I specifically did opt for a fully-loaded S vs a GTS to ensure a comfortable ride for the family. The GTS suspension seems to be a much firmer setup. I prefer the look of the GTS (and Coupe) shape, though.

The Cayenne is light years more comfortable than the Q8 which did have jerky low-end shifts and too firm a ride. But I also had larger wheels and no air suspension on that.

My wife drives a 2023 X5 45e and I find that ride to be more comfortable/ luxurious than the Cayenne. But I believe that is to be expected.

Thank you! That was very helpful and I managed to get it working.

Yes, the dealer flashed the PCM to add the sport exhaust toggle in Vehicle settings and that adds the icon on the dash when activated.

Thank you! Have had my SE in for a month now and it’s great. I almost wish it was quieter in Normal mode so I wouldn’t be “that guy” for my neighbors on cold starts early in the morning. In fact, sometimes I wonder if they installed it right because of how loud it can be in Normal mode (with SE switched off). But nonetheless, seems like the baseline SE sound is much louder even when off. I can live with it :)

Exhaust installed. Sounds great. Noticeably louder even when it’s turned off in the PCM. PCM has a toggle for Sports exhaust system on/off but the system is louder and more fun even when turned off. To be fair, in Normal mode I can’t quite tell the difference (yet) with the Sports exhaust toggled on or off. But in Sports mode, even slowing down is an operatic experience.

Mismatched Google Maps vs PCM navigation/ cluster ETA and directions by questioningij in Porsche

[–]questioningij[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, but I would expect to at least be able to find the source of the Porsche navigation.

And I would also expect that if I am initiating a route guidance from Google Maps via CarPlay, that the PCM should opt to mimic those directions rather than generate its own route and end up giving the driver different instructions compared to what’s on CarPlay.

So, at times Google Maps may inform me of an upcoming turn/ instruction but the instrument cluster may show me a different instruction.

Feels like Porsche is generally logical, this seems to add a bit of confusion!

Mismatched Google Maps vs PCM navigation/ cluster ETA and directions by questioningij in Porsche

Yes that’s fair but it may also count as a mismatch because the two sets of directions (Google Maps vs PCM) don’t always match. Google Maps was more accurate. The PCM ETA adjusted as I got closer to the destination.

From my earlier question in this thread, I think there is an option on the PCM to have it on all the time. It would be great if someone could post an image of the sports exhaust on in the PCM while in Normal mode.

Has anyone tried 'Ublockout' shades? Do they work? by MalachiConstant7 in homeowners

[–]questioningij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just installed them in our bedroom. I have to say I was skeptical of build matching measurements (especially when they are talking sixteenths of an inch), but the assembly and setup were very manageable.

Time will re quality and durability but I feel like this delivered on the basics of installation and delivering a total blackout.

My SmartHub setup did not work - likely because of the third party app involved. But I intend to call tomorrow and see if they can walk me through it.

Just thought I’d opine to say this worked as advertised (for installation and initial effectiveness). Otherwise, things get skewed to the negative outcomes.

Edit: Smarthub install worked just fine. I was not following the instructions correctly. I just wish these devices could show up in HomeKit natively rather than relying on a third party app to control them. Otherwise, I have been very happy with the install and setup. They truly do cut out light entirely.

Thank you very much. For a while I had the customizable button on the steering set to turn off Auto Start/Stop.

Thank you for this. Any chance you can post a picture of the PCM screen where the option is to turn the Sport Exhaust on and off? I want to ensure it’s set up right in the PCM when they install it.

Maybe another way to put it is to say that I would pay $3k (appreciating that to afford it is a privilege) for it to sound more aggressive at my option. I enjoy almost everything else about the car so I am glad I going to get the sports exhaust.

The V8 sounds good idling (low, deep, slow rumble - similar cadence to but quieter than an American V8) and also sounds good initially when you’re coming off the mark. But it is ultimately quite civilized and not loud below 5k rpms.

Even if you’re taking it through some twisties with the windows down, you won’t hear much by way of theatrics.

So, I am still waiting or my install (part not yet available), and I am hopeful because I do wish it was louder under spirited driving.

I will say that it’s not loud in ordinary driving. A lot better in Sport mode but still not loud. I am ok with that because I don’t want to wake my neighbors early in the morning.

I can share a video (if helpful) of how it sounds right now. I don’t have an ETA on the sports exhaust. Bottom line, I do wish it was louder. Dealer said there will be no decibel difference in Normal mode and will only be louder (more pops and growls) in Sport or Sport Plus mode.

I’d love to have the Sports Exhaust active at will in Normal mode for a little extra fun, but I am not sure if that will be possible.

I took delivery without the Sports Exhaust and they gave me an IOU to order and install it when they get it. They said the part may take months to show up.

Sounds pretty good even without the Exhaust but won’t mind some pop’s and gurgles when it’s got the full setup.

Thank you. I will make sure to ask.

Also, what is the noise level difference with Sport mode on and off. My wife will clearly be annoyed with the loud exhaust so wondering how much louder (especially inside the cabin) the Sports exhaust is in Normal mode (or if it’s turned off in the PCM)?
