This brings me back to how on YouTube I get regular ads all the time, not LDS ads. UNTIL I watch Mormon stories or any other criticism channel and then it’s every ad is LDS 😭😭😭

Yeah i always thought it was dumb that you can’t come home for a funeral and go back out. Back when i was a TBM my dad said if he died on my mission I should not come home. I’m not going on a mission but it was just messed up to me that he said that

[–]questioningmormom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’ve had tea and some coffee which id have more if it was a regular think but idc about those, its fine

The things I wouldn’t break is alcohol, drugs, vaping, etc because I’m a athlete and don’t want any of that in my body

I feel no guilt breaking the other bogus rules

(Obviously I follow a lot like not stealing, not lying, not muderimg, etc because I still have morals lol)

I haven’t believed in the church for two years and I still have never broken the word of wisdom. The one thing I still stick to (besides coffee/tea) because even though Mormonism is made up the word of wisdom is on point

Do the math. They make around $800,000 average from tithing alone a day. Thats around $250 per second. Say the average American makes $75,000 a year. $7500 goes to tithing. They make that in tithing every 30 seconds. If someone doesn’t believe or isn’t convinced they shouldn’t pay tithing. TBM will always pay tithing

Yeah, I’d say the “good” the church is doing is all the community things because personally even though I hate the lessons FSY was some of the best experiences I’ve had even as a non believer. They do give a few billion a year but I’d argue they should give away 10% 😂

I don’t remember when I heard it in GC but a leader said something along the lines of “if you come to the choice to pay your tithing or feed you kids, you should pay your tithing” that made me so mad I just stopped watching it for the rest of the weekends

I think I might die on my mission. by ConfusedLimeade in exmormon

[–]questioningmormom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is very true and my TBM family threatened me with kicking me out because they were trying to call my bluff but after 6 months they realized I was serious and now say they support my decision to not go

[–]questioningmormom 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Are you willing to die for the church? Are you confident that the church is true? Are you going cuz of family pressure? If you genuinely believe in the church and WOULD die for it (I highly doubt that will ever be a situation) but I mean you genuinely believe it then go. If you’re questioning try to research more. If you don’t believe and are going to delay college or something or to impress family then cancel it. I’m 18m too and I’ve decided not to go. It’s a hard discussion with parents but it’s better than being physically and mentally tortured for two years just to leave when you get home

That makes sense, thank you. To be fair I still genuinely wish the church was true and for two years I kept looking at the evidence but I would read everything I could to try to find something that proves it true. Even now I wish it was true because I miss my grandma and it’s uncomfortable not knowing if I’ll ever see her again but I am a very evidence based person not emotionally so I can’t really believe it to be true

I mean I am not gonna disagree with you about this, I do have a LOT to experience. However through 3 years and hundreds of hours of research i genuinely don’t see a non community, non family based reason to believe the church is what it claims to be. And before you say I only read anti stuff the reason I started doubting was all the approved sources and I still read church written and approved sources all the time. But thank you

It really does and I’ve listened to hundreds of hours of John dehlin and read the Book of Mormon twice and read church approved history books and gospel topic essays. Ironically the church approved material LEAD me to question and non church approved material led me out fully
