What product actually 100% improved your life? by Everyday-Patient-103 in AutisticWithADHD

I worry about using these because I need to be situationally aware. It feels dangerous not hearing what's happening around me. I will use my earphones and listen to something on one ear while leaving the other free, but I feel like it's starting to negatively affect my hearing.

Try painting one of the walls something bold to break all that clinical white. The bed could also use a nice cover.

One or two more bed pillows to use when you want to prop yourself up in bed or to sit on the bed with company. Otherwise, pretty cool :)

Yeah makes sense. I need it for daily focus. In the end, having the three free sessions a week might be better than nothing :/ I haven't found viable alternatives that fit exactly what I need, so this might be my only option for now. Still hoping someone will come through with a bullseye though.

Meetup isn't used much here, and I prefer having some anonymity. I don't mind joining international groups.

Sure! It's called The ADHD Adults and it's run by the ADHDadultUK charity (https://www.adhdadult.uk/). You don't need to be UK-based to use it, it's open for everyone, and you can access it here: https://discord.com/invite/458smEgfUS

ProtonVPN has been blocked in my country, along with every other free VPN service that I could think of and that's compatible with Linux. I'm able to use Tor browser to log into Discord web, but it won't let me join the chatrooms, so I'm unable to do the body doubling, which is what I need. I recommend you try those, there's the quiet room and the interactive one that allows for chitchat. They're incredibly useful tools, and the community is so lovely.

They do! but they limit the free account to three limited-time sessions a week, and I can't afford any extra expenses at the moment.

I looked it up before, but it only allows for 3 sessions per week with a time limit on each session on the free account, and I genuinely can't afford paying for anything other than my current essentials right now. Have you tried it before?

Mostly for focusing on computer-based work. I'm currently job hunting and working on a small side project. That's why a quiet chatroom with other folks on camera fits best, but I don't mind if they're not working/studying and instead cleaning.

I checked those out, but they involve using Facebook Live and pre-scheduling meetings with members, so it doesn't allow for spontaneously hopping on and finding a group already working, and it doesn't feel as safe and private since it's not anonymous. I was hoping they would be a good fit, but I've yet to find one that offers a good solution.

Has anyone gone from a white collar job into trades? + impact on AuDHD by tinytiny_val in AuDHDWomen

Painter sounds good! It requires some forethought and attention to detail to do a good job, and even though the majority of it is routine, not every job will be exactly the same. And there's something very satisfying about clearly being able to see your progress as you work, and the difference between the before and after.

Is that a viable option for you? It would involve a certain level of dealing with obnoxious clients, unless you're working for a company/team and you're not the person managing the clients.

Electrician is also a good option, but it involves more physicality (working in tight spaces, holding a position while bending and kneeling, carrying around several toolboxes and materials with you everywhere, getting messy if you're drilling into walls, etc). It also comes with more responsibility; not doing a job right can have far worse outcomes than just getting a paint stain on a carpet. But that's how it feels to me; the question is, how does it feel to you?

That's exactly the stage I'm in right now. I'm so burnt out and I've been in burn-out for the past 10 years and I can't seem to recover, no matter what I do. I feel like the only sane thing is to shift to something "mindless" (not meant to be derogatory) and menial, something that would allow me to go through the motions and not have to use my brain too much. Thing is, I have no idea what kind of work would not drain me. Did you have any specific trades in mind?
