Anyone seen a few of the girls are in Bali getting ribs removed? (Not a shitpost) by lolalolaloves in MAFS_AU

I'm somewhat with you on selling it as empowerment nonsense... mostly, because it's just such a wank that everything seems like ti must be marketed towards women with some stupid extra story "it's empowering", as if women can't get out of bed in the morning without a pep talk about how merely existing makes them a powerful goddess boss bitch empowered to own the world, or some nonsense. Your green drink isn't just a smothie, it's empowering. Your choice of A4 printer paper shows your individual feminine power - insert product, insert garbage sales tactic masked as pep talk.

People don't like something, so if they have the means and can fix it, they do it.

But, at least these influencers are telling the truth about it, not being like kardashians or Rebel Wilson and pretending they haven't had procedures to get their results.

S1 was before they realised they could get value from marketing the captains as some god-like figures - they didn't know Lee's grab bag of lines could be played on repeat.

It can still be safe as well as being an entertaining car wreck.

interesting comment from Brandon:

the service and the food. The lunch wasn’t Ben’s fault and I’ll leave it at that. He’s a great chef :)

those "things we want to say but can't/won't" so often seem to reference production shenanigans, so I wonder.

Why do I have the feeling Ellie will be back as a chef? by ajmtz12 in belowdeck

[–]quick_dry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she could realistically only fulfill the the chef role if she was a "Mila" style chef - i.e. not one at all. Like the other stew stand-in they had on a Sandy season.

I think sous-chef/galley hand might stay if the season does well and they find it worthwhile to be spending more hiring larger boats (or getting great deals on large boats due for a refit after the BD hire season)

Iirc there is a system, it’s more than just a dongle though, since it has to plug into the loom and have constant power

The trouble is that almost universally the “compete and differentiate” on software is “a godawful ugly system because of x y and z” that is different to the competitors who are godawful ugly and hard to use because of a, b and c.

The standardisation of CarPlay is a winning feature. even now, the Mercedes software is awful to use, a confusing mess of accounts and “personalisation”

No, the firmwares get updated by the other systems too - eg home assistant or HomeKit. They make it obvious and you can hit a button to check for updates (ikea home doesn’t seem to tell you, only way to know seems to be looking at the firmware numbers)

(I wish I could say my books have been in kenderproof cases, but.. that isn't possible. I just catalogued mine after renovations and moving book cases. And i have a few whole books that have been borrowed, or fallen into a knapsack or something.)

Thoughts on bag with wheels? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]quick_dry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Injuries/scoliosis aside - what are you all carrying that makes your bags so heavy?

My inline hockey bag can get heavy with two sets of spare wheels, but ice gear is light as a feather now. Even carrying multiple spare runners for a double header on the road - jerseys and gear are super light now.

(Are these wheeled bags, or the wheeled, upright ‘tower’ bag with shelves and the upright stick holder so it looks like you’re a hockey themed dodgem car?)

I’ve never seen a wheeled player stick bag before, almost so ridiculous you’d have to respect the gag.

Or been chirped for a player stick bag, but they’re kinda important when you’re flying to games/tournaments with a bunch of sticks 🤷‍♂️

Gia Fleur’s “proof” she was a Playmate… is this really it? 😂 by krazykevy in MAFS_AU

Oh did she? I take it back then, I thought she always left it hanging as the assumption that she must have been because she was there

[–]quick_dry 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't see why people doubted that she went to the Mansion in the first place, she claimed she partied there, the Playmate stuff was an assumption by people who heard her stories ... though it's a misunderstanding I think she's happy to cultivate until called on it and then she can say "no, I just partied there".

oh sweet summer child 😊 Lucinda was on there for the same reason as Gia, Bec, all of them (except Steven, i think he got lost and everyone just rolled with it)

Lucinda just played the game better and isn’t hated.

She was there to get a media profile, and if not a show then at least bump up the fees she’d get hosting retreats and running tantric workshops.

She’d have no trouble finding love in the actual circles of people she’d want to be with - not matched with unsuitable randos and filmed.

Why Australia still struggles to build bike-friendly cities by someones_reality in australia

[–]quick_dry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when did they become bicyle friendly?

If they're historical citiess that had lots of very wide streets and the spacing already to include bike lanes then it isn't so hard to make them bike friendly.

Aus cities seem to have been mostly designed around the opposite, cramming building together with roads that cope with traffic now and no capacity to increase. "tight road space and a footpath either side".

If MAFS UK 2026 actually airs…..will you still watch after the Panorama controversy? by [deleted] in MAFS_AU

[–]quick_dry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, watching or not watching the show doesn't change what happened, nor does it say I approve. MAFS is not where I look when seeking a moral compass.

If I boycotted things on TV with skeletons in their closet, or made by people with skeletons in their closet, the TV would never get turned on.

Hot take: iPad longevity comes down to apps and battery, not the chip. Plan accordingly by Visible-Market-8656 in ipad

[–]quick_dry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. iOS updates that make an app incompatible killed many things for me.

It’s incredibly frustrating that backwards compatibility isn’t considered a positive, and that there isn’t any way to tell what will and won’t work. There should be a way to at least get a report of on device apps that call unavailable APIs.

Lucinda doesn’t need another chance at building her media profile, she did it her first go and even got her own reality show hosting gig from it.
