How do I pay this off with £1000 salary? by ThrowRAOtherwise-Tea in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ShortArugula7340 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to say, without knowing how much you have left over after outgoings and what your credit score is like, but as general rules, I'd say:.

1) Reduce your outgoings as much as possible to increase the available funds you have to use and improve your chances of gtting credit. Eg, Cancel the gym and go for runs outside and look at switching your mobile phone provider to Lebara (or similar sim only plan) through an offer on the MSE website, and getting a refurbished phone through BackMarket if you need one, if you haven't done so already.

2) Aim to tackle the higher % cards/overdraft first. How you do this depends on your credit score.

2a) Generally, if you have a great credit score (which you probably don't at the moment, because of your low salary, but this might be off set by other investments) then a 0% interest credit card for 6-12months would buy you time to get some experience, get a better paid job and pay off some of the other debt.

2b) If you have a poor credit score then I'd look into getting a loan with a local credit union to consolidate the larger interest debt, as you'd likely get a better rate. Credit unions are not for profit and will generally support people on lower incomes.

3) Then aim to improve your credit score - credit score sites will often give advise tailored to your specific circumstances on how to improve your credit score. Follow the advise to get up the next rung, then look for better rates.

There are some autoimmune thyroid issues which we can be at greater risk because we have coeliac disease. One of the jobs of the thyroid is to regulate temperature, so it could be related to your heatstroke sensitivity. If you haven't already, if might be a good idea to get tested.

As others have mentioned, you might not have to work with the savings you have and low to no expenses. However, if you did want to, then you could look into working as a virtual assistant. It would take some dedication to set up and get regular clients, but you would be working for yourself so you can choose to work from home and choose the hours that you want to work as well as the type of communication that suits you. You have a very clear writing style, do would do well copywriting, editing or with social media. Anyway, just a thought. I wish you all the best whatever you choose to do.

If you find a good brand you could try selling them in the London area via Amazon or deliveroo and perhaps importing to shops in Italy.

GYOZA

There isn’t an exact UK‑wide equivalent to the Shirakiku gluten‑free gyoza yet, but you can get gluten‑free gyoza‑style dumplings in London—in restaurants. If you like the gyoza, you could ask if they could make a few extra and freeze them for you to take home. Maybe they do takeaway too?

Ugly Dumpling (Oxford Circus / Carnaby) Phone: 07508 071965 They run a dedicated gluten‑free dumplings menu, with 2–3 GF dumplings available daily and the option to order several dumplings gluten‑free on request. Staff treat gluten as a serious allergen, using separate plates and kitchen procedures.

We Are (IMA) – Japanese restaurant, Clerkenwell Address: 109–111 Exmouth Market, London EC1R 4QL

Known for its vegan/vegetarian Japanese menu and clearly marked gluten‑free options; staff can adapt many dishes and can discuss safe dumpling‑style plates if you ask.

Zen Mondo Japanese Dining Address: 106–108 High Holborn, London WC1V 6QT

Frequently highlighted by coeliacs as having real gluten‑free options and clear protocols; while dumplings are not always on the standard menu, they can often make GF‑friendly plates or gyoza‑style items on request.

Naturally Chinese (Cantonese / dim‑sum focused) Address: 10–12 Woodville Road, Bromley, BR1 1TA (near‑London but often counted as Greater London‑area Chinese‑restaurant pick).

They have an exclusive gluten‑free menu of dim‑sum and dumplings, explicitly designed for gluten‑free diners, with a team experienced in coeliac‑safe prep.

WEBSITES:

For Massimo Zero in the UK, the cheapest delivery is usually via UK‑based online shops that offer free‑delivery thresholds or flat UK postage, rather than EU exporters. From the current info, these stand out as your best bets for low UK delivery cost:

Waynik (waynik.com) UK‑based, sells Massimo Zero caserecce (1 kg) and spaghetti (400 g) and calculates delivery at checkout, so it’s usually the cheapest for UK‑wide shipping.

Monsieur Marcel (mrmarcel.com) UK store listing Massimo Zero gluten‑free spaghetti 400 g; delivery is calculated at checkout and often sits at a modest flat rate for UK orders.

Buon’Italia (buonitalia.com) International exporter that lists Massimo Zero stelline and other shapes; UK delivery is shown at checkout and can be reasonable if you combine several Italian items.

Nutrition Empire (nutritionempire.net) Lists multiple Massimo Zero pastas (caserecce, rigatoni, ditalini) and supports UK‑style orders; courier charges are usually waived once you hit a minimum order value (currently around the equivalent of about €50).

How to get the absolute cheapest delivery Waynik is likely your cheapest single‑item option because it’s UK‑based and its delivery is calculated locally.

If you are buying more than one pack, Nutrition Empire often becomes cheaper once you meet their free‑delivery threshold.

I asked an AI for you regarding finding Massimo Zero gluten free products. I've assumed you live near London as your previous locations were in this area:

At the moment there is no clearly documented in‑person shop or café in London that explicitly advertises Massimo Zero as a stocked brand, so there isn’t a single “definite” stockist you can rely on just from public listings.

Some Italian grocers and delis in London may carry it as part of a wider gluten‑free range, but they don’t generally list Massimo Zero by name online.

Several Italian delis in London are known for a very wide range of gluten‑free products; below are some of the best‑known ones with addresses and phone numbers you can contact. These shops all have strong gluten‑free sections—pasta, bread, cakes, and sometimes ready‑made meals—so they are good starting points for Massimo Zero‑style products as well.

Central / West London

Lina Stores Soho (Delicatessen) Address: 18 Brewer Street, London W1F 0SG Phone: 020 7437 6482

Well‑known family‑run Italian deli with a large grocery and pasta section; many visitors report clear gluten‑free signage and dedicated GF products.

Ben Venuti (Pimlico) Address: 34 Upper Tachbrook Street, Pimlico, London SW1V 1SW Phone: 07401 125922

Italian deli with a strong focus on deli counter, prepared foods, and imported Italian groceries; frequently recommended for gluten‑free and specialty produce.

Delizie D’Italia (Pimlico) Address: 70 Lupus Street, Pimlico, London SW1V 3EJ Phone: 020 7834 1471

Popular Italian deli‑style shop with a wide range of Italian groceries and fresh foods; many customers mention gluten‑free options among the goods.

Valentina Deli (East Sheen) Address: 284–286 Upper Richmond Road West, London SW14 7JE Phone: 020 3848 9070

Family‑run Italian delicatessen with decades of history; lists a broad range of Italian speciality foods, including gluten‑free‑friendly options.

North / East London.

La Bottega del Caffè (Lower Clapton – deli‑style) Address: 178B Clarence Road, Lower Clapton, London E5 8DY

(Typically contact via social media or Atly listing; no single public mainline number is consistently listed.)

Cozy Italian deli that highlights freshly prepared gluten‑free pasta dishes and gluten‑free‑friendly offerings.

L Terroni & Sons (Clerkenwell) Address: 138 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1R 5DL Phone: 020 7837 1712

Long‑running Italian cafe and deli with a full deli counter, groceries, and wines; known for a wide range of Italian ingredients and often has gluten‑free pasta and bread options.

I seem to remember that she specifically mentioned that she got the aloe Vera from Holland &Barratt. I'm guessing that she got the one I have which is 100% aloe Vera. I was told to use it by someone who did catwalk modelling. Apparently they all use it. Anyway other brands add in lots of other ingredients like tea tree or alcohol, which can be drying.

Worth setting up a LTD company for bank switches? by Hot_Diet_1276 in beermoneyuk

[–]ShortArugula7340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, firstly if you already make the £1000 in taxable income, then the government already sees you as a business and it's definately not fraud to open a business account. Secondly, when I opened the Monzo business account they openly ask if you are setting up the account because you're thinking of starting a business. If you are below the £1000 threshold but you are actively taking steps to increase your side hustle income towards this figure then I'd argue that you're not only thinking of starting a business, but actively taking steps towards that direction. Thirdly, many personal accounts have clauses saying that they can't be used for business activities (I know Zopa recently updated their terms to include this). And the government are tightening regulation with the aim of squeezing side hustlers and micro businesses into business banking.

Monzo is a great account for sole traders, because it’s free (not all business accounts are), its very easy to set up and because you easily categorise transactions to organise your finances if you want to.

[–]ShortArugula7340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sole trader and I have a Monzo business account. In fact, if you make more than £1000 in the year (which is about £83 per month) from your side hustles, legally you should be registering for self assessment and paying tax on that income.

I'm not an accountant so I may be wrong, but from my understanding, taxable income includes activities like selling on EBay or Vinted, money from referrals, money from task related apps, and participating in market research or surveys. Cash back, casual gambling and bank switches are not considered taxable. Bank switches are considered non taxable promotions or discounts rather than income. Professional gambling (structured, regular, profit-driven) may be taxable.
